Friends,

As many of you know I broke my ankle back in mid-May. I am now starting on physical therapy. I am struggling to reprogram my brain to think it is OK to being moving my foot into positions which hurt, and eventually result in having to ice my foot down after I'm done.

Anyone have any suggestions from their experiences?

Thanks,

EJ

Ej,

Ask the PT about heat therapy and using a tens unit.

Hugs,

Jan

I'm not sure if you are, but looking at icing it as a bad thing ... well its so not! i've definitely had my fair share of sports injuries (resulting in a lot of physical therapy!) and can i just tell you that during those times, ice was my best friend!

Are you doing any sort of ultra sounds on it?? Those helped me a lot too ...

Actually it's a TNS unit. It provides electrical stimulation to the sore spots. It sounds like torture, but it really helps.

Hugs,

Jan

Hi Jacq10,

Thank you for sharing, and putting the positive spin on the ice. I think I had a breakthrough today at physical therapy. I was able to concentrate, and do well.

What sports do you like?

Jan,

I had that last year on my other foot after surgery to remove a pinched nerve caused by my foot surgery from the year before.

The doctor has only ordered exercise this time.

Thank you for your input. Physical Therapy
