I’m terrified of the getting the flu. I’ve only gotten the flu once in 2006. I got the flu shot a few weeks ago for the first time in 8 years. I did not get the shot or the flu in 2009 or 2015 when it was also very bad. I never got H1N1 or the shot either.

I’m really hoping, since I’ve had the flu only once in my life, and I actually have the flu shot this year, I’ll be fine.

I feel totally fine, and I’ve been at work and at a hospital this past week.

Should I worry? I’ve been washing my hands a lot. And carrying around hand sanitizer.

Yes, I am afraid of getting the flu. I have a lowered immune system caused by meds. I got the flu shot this Fall. I wipe down shopping carts. I carry hand sanitizer and wash my hands as soon as I get home. I have never been this concerned before by the flu. I live with my grown daughter who works in a pharmacy and is around sick people all of the time.

I had the flu about 8 years ago swore I was going to die it was so bad.

Today I had to go for a mammogram and lab work , soon as I took a step in the hospital I grabbed a mask.

Soon as I left I used hand sanitizer and when I got home I washed hands and went out and scrubbed my steering wheel.

This flu is vicious going around.

I went into Walmart today, and I walked out without buying or touching anything. It was so crowded because of the Super Bowl. It looked like a cesspool for the flu.

My Rice A Roni can wait.

I only had the flu once when I was a kid & the Asian fku was epidemic. Had it at Christmas to top it ALL off.

My psrents made me get a flu shot when I was in high school....(late 70's) got so sick right after getting the shot back when they used live virus, I swore I would NEVER have a flu shot again.

Fast forward this year at 65, I came down with a scratchy throat (not sore) & laryngitis that stuck with me all December. Then on Christmas day when an elderly friend of mine died & I was out in 0F temps all week helping my other friend prepare for the funeral & house sit her dogs while she was away, I started coughing bad. My friend is a PA & when she got back in town & heard me, decided I had bronchitis & said take musinex to break up the congestion & ibuprofen for body ache & any fever. I had absolutely no temp with this but bidy ache & fatigue. Didnt get to stay home till after the Saturday funeral & collapsed in bed for 2 weeks because I knew if I went out in the cold it would turn into pneumonia as I had it often growing up. Turned out I got better without taking anything except the musinex.

Then last week I got dizzy when showering. Ended up with an intestinal bug & dizziness & a littke sick to my stomach & absolutely NO temperature.

If tgis is as bad as any of it gets, I will still avoid the flu shots. I have a pharmacist friend who just retired & had owned his own pharmacy & ended up head pharmacist at a local big pharmacy that had bought him out. He agrees with me to try & let your OWN immune systen take care of you UNLESS your immune system is compromised then it is necessary to take all precautions necessary.

Allergies are also tied to one's immune system & since moving here I havent hqd one allergy problem either.....so for now, I am just letting my body twke care of itself until it proves it can't.

I live alone on my farm. I don't go to town much except for a few errands. I socialize but not so much this time of year with all the cold weather so mostly I stay healthy without really taking any specific precautions & not worried either.

Only because my brother had a transplant and he is totally immune suppressed so I am extra cautious of getting sick because if he caught even a cold it could kill him. So lots of hand washing and hand sanitizer before I go into his house.

I have a feeling (knock on wood) I’ll be ok.

I think I would have gotten it from the hospital. I was biting my nails and had not washed my hands.

I’ve been at work 3 times in the past 5 days. And I’m fine.

I think people are staying home when they are sick. Like they are supposed to.

I haven’t run into anyone who looked sick.

Still no flu.

I am going to take a break from therapy. I don’t think people at the clinic know to stay home when they are sick. And my therapist said they did have to talk to some people who were coming in sick. So I’m not totally being irrational.

I have a Dr. Appointment next Wednesday. I’m worried their will be sick people in the waiting room. It’s not a huge waiting room. I wish she could just phone my prescription in.

I'm worried about because of my husband's lowered immune system, but both he and my daughter got the shot.

Me? When I had to get a flu shot I ended up with the flu about two months later. When I stopped getting the shots I didn't get the flu. Haven't had it for years.

I do all the precautions so I'll be okay.

There are masks and such available if you want those too.

She can’t call in the prescription. I actually have to see her. But rescheduled it in two weeks.

Who knows. Maybe it will have died down by then. It seems to change daily.

They closed some of the schools in our area to keep it from spreading more

I read on Sunday the flu was dying down and getting better. Now they are saying it’s going to be bad until April. It’s really anxiety provoking for me. My stomach is in knots and I’ve lost 5 pounds since Friday. I’m really worried. My mom had surgery a few weeks ago. She’s still really tired and achy from it. I’ve also read people are dying even with the flu shot if they are older and have other issues.

I am dreading my doctors appointment on Saturday. I told my mom to just drop me off and I’d text her when I got into the exam room. I’ll grab a mask as soon as I get in there.

Therapist is not making things better. She said “well, I hope you don’t get it.” In a kind of condescending way.
