I am fat and diet and extreme exercise help some but I am really a larger frame person. I am thinking again about weight loss surgery. I first researched it 15 years ago but thought I could lose weight on my own, haven't been able to keep it off though.

So I am preliminary thinking again about it. I know 2 women and one man who had it done. I know they don't eat much, I know they are normal weights now. 1 had it done 15 years ago we researched it together. But I chickened out.

My concern now is my meds, will they be absorbed still? I am thinking the rny type of surgery. I am 130 pounds overweight. It does scare me to mess with my system. I am heathy despite being fat. I am tired of being judged by size.

there are risks associated with any type of surgery, and anesthesia~! ask yourself, is your weight killing you ? if not, then you might try to limit your weight gain, rather than aim for weight loss. there are still many side effects to the 'sleeve', the duodanal sphincter removal, and all that... and once it's done, it's very hard to reverse if you experience the 'down-side'. i know i considered it once myself, and live in a state with one of the very best specialty clinics in america (colorado); and even then there was a 1% chance of mortality~! many docs have much higher rates...... is it worth it ?

I worry about complications. But don't worry about death. I have been under general before have a hard time coming out. So I'll warn doctors. I'm going to a preliminary appointment tomorrow to discuss it with my doctor. I'll see what she says.
