On Feb. 14, 2018, I suffered a perforated duodenal ulcer. I hadn't had any digestion issues, no heartburn, reflux, etc., so I had no idea I even had an ulcer. The perforation required ambulance, surgery, 6 days in the hospital, loss of weight, the most painful recovery that makes childbirth look like a fun walk in the park.
Since this surgery, I have twice gotten 2 bad stomach bugs. The first bug was likely expected as I was around kids and newly off broad-band antiobiotics. It was horrid. H was fixing to take me to an urgent care place to get an IV. Today, I woke up OK, but my H had been sick with diarrhea yesterday. I figured he was just stressed out. I didn't think anything of it as I don't get sick often now. A few hours later, I was running to the bathroom with awful diarrhea and an obvious stomach bug. It was so horrible. I never got stomach issues like that before surgery. I lost over 5 lb. in water weight even downing water and Gatorade. Am achy and think have a bit of fever too. Shaky & not feeling great ![]() Do stomach illnesses after ulcer surgery tend to be worse than before? These last 2 illnesses, I have not been so sick to my stomach in nearly 10 years and that was one illness, not 2. I've even been eating yogurt daily for months (tendency to get yeast infections). Are the rest of my stomach bugs going to be this horrendous now? God, I hope not!

I hope not either! I don't know the answer to your question. Have you asked your GI doctor?
