Having anxiety and mild depression, it's hard to decide if what I'm feeling is a part of anxiety or something that should get rechecked by a doctor.
I don't like to do unnecessary visits. I got this pressure in my ears that feels like air is cloged inside. Sometimes my ear itchess, sometimes it aches, the pain is usually mild and annoying during nights. The itchy uncomfortable feeling causes tension headaches. I get humming in my ear now and then. Yesterday, the humming stopped, turned into a loud ringing sound, volume goes down, then start feeling lightheaded. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, its a scary uncomfortable feeling. Then nerves in my head travel down to my arms and feet. This happens once a month. I get pressure in my nose sometimes that aggrivates the symptoms, and tired eyes. I had steroid nasal sprays to help drain fluid from my ears and clear the sinuses... It didn't work. It stops sometimes, after getting up and the pressure in my nose reduces. Then comes back around mid day to the night. Had this for nearly a year now, although I had nasal issues due to lopsided nose and cleft palate. It just feels worse these days, anxiety also makes it worse. I been thinking of trying eardrops, but unsure. Is this common to have symptoms like this with anxiety? |

Hi MattyT123,
I don't know if what you're describing is common to anxiety disorders, but I wanted to ask you a question: Did you happen to start any new medications just prior to the onset of the symptoms you described? |

Hi, no I haven't been taking medication before the symptoms began, it started since I had fainting, lightheaded sensations and pins and needles last year, went to a&e told me I was fine. Since then been getting uncomfortable sensations that come and go. Seems to trigger a lot of anxious feelings and tiredness sometimes. |

I'm not a doctor, of course, but personally I don't actually think all those symptoms you've described are being caused by anxiety. They could possibly be separate conditions. For example, ringing, humming, sensations in the ear, could be tinnitus, a fairly common but uncomfortable condition of the ear. And the lightheadedness, fainting, pins and needles, sound like yet another condition all together. But it could all be interrelated, I suppose, sure. Just an opinion. I'd say head off to the doctor, for sure MattyT123, and explain everything to them. You wouldn't want it to be the onset of something even more serious. |

I saw a doc todsy because I have 2 issues including this one, was hoping I could fit 2 problems and maybe a referal to ent, but he couldn't see my ear problem because of time and can only look at one problem, so have booked an appointment for next week. I'm thinking of calling again to get it earlier, but not sure if I should and if its considered an emergency since its chronic. Strangely its a bit better this morning and when I went there. I think focusing which is hard not to increases the feelings. |
