Anyone hear about or have nodules in their thyroid gland? Just wondering because I have some and my thyroid level is too low they upped my levothyroxine by 50%. Any opinions/experiences would be appreciated. -Danielle

Wow Danielle,

I am wondering the same thing. I just had an ultrasound and found out I have 5 nodules, some bigger than others. I'm waiting for my doctor to call.

Peace

Yea, I have nodules on my thyroid and I have Hashimoto's thyroid disease. My nodules were first discovered when I was 20 years old.

You will hopefully either be scheduled for an ultra sound so the specialist can look closer-- or (and perhaps after the ultra sound) you may have a biopsy(sp?) done to rule out cancer........ not to worry you though-- many many nodules are just that-- nodules and not cancer-- but it's good to get it checked -- with that said, thyroid cancer is one of the most curable of any cancer.

I've had to have my levothyroxine upped many times over the years as my thyroid gradually shuts down. nodules

Good luck with this! nodules

Was referred to see an endocrinologist because my pcp and the doc who ordered the ultrasound on my thyroid differ in opinions about my thyroid doc think it's nodules pcp thinks parathyroid... either way dont really know what it translates to. and seeing an opthamologist next month for hallucinations which might be due to my eyes and vision and my brain trying to rationalize it or whatever... pdoc said my eye sight could be going and I might just think I'm hallucinating * the one in the hospital not reg pdoc.

I think my aunt had, and they removed half of her thyroid last year. She had a lump on her thyroid anyway, even if it wasn't a nodule.

I must have had a goofy shaped thyroid since I was a teenager. The drs would always feel my thyroid during my regular phsyical, do bloodwork, and then nothing. nodules I am 50 now.

2yrs ago the size of those nodules increased to the point of changing my voice and was beginning to make swallowing difficult.

The dr did an ultrasound and then I had a needle biopsy done, no big deal really. The endo wanted to take the thyroid out regardless of what the biopsy said .... and I did.

Seems my thyroid was pretty screwed up. I had hashimoto and a small amount of thyroid cancer nodules. I had the entire thyroid removed and now take levoxyl daily.

All and all it wasn't a bad surgery and now at least I can regulate the thyroid hormone by meds instead of letting my sick thyroid go crazy on it's own.

Good luck.....and don't worry nodules easier said then done I am sure nodules

Take care

The thyroid is important and can be scary but overall is pretty easy to deal with when it has problems (kind of like adnoids and tonsils use to be) without "spreading" to other organs or places, etc.
