Oh sweety....here you go again huh??
![]() I'm so sorry you are hurting like that again. Maybe what you need to do is call the doctor and let them know, let them prescribe yet some more meds (I know how you don't like taking them) but they are imparative to help you heal. In the meantime, how about sucking on some ice chips? heyjoe may be right, it could be thrush ![]() Symptoms of thrush in an adult include: A burning feeling in the mouth and throat (at the start of a thrush infection). White patches that adhere to the mouth and tongue. The tissue around the patches may be red, raw, and painful. If rubbed (during tooth brushing, for example), the patches and the tissue of the mouth may bleed easily. A bad taste in the mouth or difficulty tasting foods. Here are some ideas to help it feel better if it's thrush and even if it's strep they might help you a bit - Measures can be taken to reduce the discomfort of thrush: Drink cold liquids, such as water or iced tea, or eat flavored ice treats or frozen juices. Eat foods that are easy to swallow such as gelatin, ice cream, or custard. If the patches are painful, try drinking from a straw. Rinse your mouth several times a day with a warm saltwater rinse. You can make the saltwater mixture with 1 tsp (5 g) of salt in 8 fl oz (0.2 L) of warm water. I hope you feel better soon my friend. Keeping you in my prayers and sending out healing thoughtst to you! ![]() sabby |

Spend the money and go to the Dr. This is not something to put off. Make sure you demand a mono test. I know it sounds crazy, but people with compromised immune systems can have recurrent mono. I let my strept get me so run down that I had mono again this fall. It doesn't matter how old you are, and don't let them give you the, "Do you work with children?" routine. Tell them you want the test. It often comes with strept and I'll bet you're dehydrated, too. If you can buy some Propel powder, it's cheaper than in the bottles. Get as much down you as you can and go get that test. It's called a mono spot. Hugs, Jan

Like colds, the vast majority of sore throats are caused by viral infections. This means most sore throats will NOT respond to antibiotics. Many people have a mild sore throat at the beginning of every cold. When the nose or sinuses become infected, drainage can run down the back of the throat and irritate it, especially at night. Or, the throat itself can be infected. Some viruses can cause specific types of sore throat. For example, Coxsackievirus sometimes causes blisters in the throat, especially in the late summer and early fall. Mono and the flu can also cause specific viral throat infections. Strep throat is the most common bacterial cause of sore throat. Because strep throat can occasionally lead to rheumatic fever, antibiotics are given. Strep throat often includes a fever (greater than 101°F), white draining patches on the throat, and swollen or tender lymph glands in the neck. Children may have a headache and stomach pain.

http://0-www.nlm.nih.gov.catalog.llu...cle/003053.htm Don't know what I'd do, guess get more swabs taken and see if something different could be tried instead of the antibiotics.

gargle with salt water and drink lots and lots of fluids, as much as you can with a sore throat.
since you have been fighting this for so long, it sounds like it would be a good idea to be examined. |

OMG I used to be that way all year round!! Gatorade or pedialyte to drink...tylenol...lots of sleep...riccola...and if you spike a fever and get hot/cold flashes. Also, if you have white on your tonsils and back of tongue, it is probably strep and antibiotics are the way to go...if you have had them recently you may want to ask for a different strain or soemthing. I'm sorry you are ill and hope you get better soon!!

I've been suffering from a sore throat for about a month now and finally it's beginning to subside. For the longest time it hurt to swallow. You may have what I had. I'd get some more antibiotics and wait it out a little longer before getting to concerned. Sleeping with a humidifier helps too because dryness of the throat contributes to the pain.
