I was diagnosed with Graves Disease today. I am somewhat relieved because it might mean part of my anxiety is actually a physical one that can be treated and cured. How much of my depression and anxiety is actually physical will be more apparent once treatment commences.

It makes me feel kinda hopeful. There is a good chance it will go into remission.

I had read somewhere that Grave's Disease can be a cause and/or contributing factor for both depression and anxiety, if I remember right. I hope everything works out best for you. Keeping you in my thoughts and well wishes.

I think it might’ve been the main factor behind my insomnia, since that’s a symptom.

Hi @Stillhuman
I'm sorry for your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with it 31 years ago. I was noticing insomnia, weight loss, anxiety, and a racing heart. If left untreated it will start eating at your muscles. I liked the weight loss, and my dr noticed that. I said ''cant we just leave it''. ''no, it will start to eat the muscles including the heart.'' I hope you have a specialist. That family doctor did a very good thing for me. As I waited for treatment he put me on a blood pressure medication. Propanolol. It's sometimes used for anxiety off label. I felt better but couldn't keep up with enough calories. Be sure to eat enough as you wait for treatment. I wish you all the best!

I have been prescribed methimazole and I got the odd heart palp, but nothing persistent. My blood pressure was 100/60. RHR was 60 bpm at the specialist’s office. I saw an endocrinologist and will be seeing him again later in the fall.

I had anorexia nervosa. I’m eating well and avoiding foods that are recommended that I avoid.

I had never heard that drug, I guess medicine has evolved a lot around that. I was just waiting a few months on propanolol and then radiation and then the radio iodine. I'm glad it sound like you're doing well with blood pressure and heart rate. I hope the anxiety and depression goes away for you.
