hi

I recently had an accident with some cleaningproduct, probably something like chlorix and it got in one eye. It was several hours before i had the chance to wash it out and d*mn it hurted... I also got it on my back.
Anyways i went to the hosp the next day but now i got the news im either gonna be blind or partially blind in this eye. Still waiting on more test results.
I was wondering if anyone has some knowledge about this? What are the possibilities of regaining eye sight with surgery for example?
I know i should probably ask the doc about this but I find it hard to talk to them and whenever they start talking and spitting out info and terms I'm lost and never seem to be able to remember much... Maybe a good website adress or something? Anything would be great... Thanks.

Lucas

The cleaning product probably ate away some of your eye, rather than just "damaging" it in a way that can be corrected.

The dangers aren’t limited to children. Adults can get serious burns and even permanent eye damage when caustic agents (like toilet, tub, oven, and drain cleaner) come in contact with skin, eyes, and mucus membranes.

i hope not.. doc's wouldn't really say anything about that. First wait for all the testresults to come back and then we can tell if we can do anything they said... got an appointment on monday.

Blue, I too am sorry. i have a brother who lost sight in one eye due to a sledding accident and the old kind of runner sled that had a sharp point in the front. It has not limited him in his life at all and most people don't even know. He has been a cop most of his adult life. he can see shadows like if someone approaches from that side. How did you get stuff in your eye? My brother hit another kid's sled.

ehrm well, i was still with the fosterfamily who was s.abusing me and physically.. They were mad at me cause they thought I'd told someone about it .. even though I hadn't.. Anyway they put some cleaningstuff on the burns on my back.. wich they'd made also to make it hurt i guess
and somehow it got in my eye
It was an accident i think
but they wouldnt let me wash it out until hours later.. and not till the next day I could sneak out of the house with my brother to go to the hospital
now we're with other fosters of course though
so thats kinda the story..

Blue I am so darned sorry. Is there a way in your country to sue these people for money? That is my first thought that I would want someone to pay for my lost sight! I know it's pretty messed up tobe in foster care and further abused but it happens all of the time here. No surprises. Some people are just evil I guess. I am glad you are with your brother. I bet you feel so good about that. I haven't spoken to you for a long time, guess I was hibernating. Wish I could give you good ointment for your back. Hope you are healing. Stay safe.
