Alright..This just happened to me about 3 hours ago.. I went to get a drink, and at first I thought I felt my tooth chip..so i started inspecting like crazy, and my teeth felt normal, but something felt off..so i kept touching my teeth..and Then i went to look in the mirror and I saw and noticed that it looked my my jaw shifted, or had moved..my teeth or lower jaw..looked like it moved..It looks different when i smile..

I admit I do clench my teeth together sometimes..maybe without knowing..It must be without knowing because I have never had this problem before.. .and I was told by an ex that I do grind my teeth at night...So i know I grind my teeth..I cause myself so much stress and anxiety over nothing..but to me It causes something in me to react..

anyways, as i was inspecting further, I guess I had opened my mouth too wide or something, which makes me think it has to do with nerves..or something...right, I keep going off track, sorry lol..Kinda writing down my thoughts..

When I was looking in my mouth, moving my jaw around..I got a severe migraine, behind my ears and in the back of my neck.and my heart began to race really really fast for that moment... even now, I feel so much pressure in the back of my neck and head..I dont get it.

I'm kinda afraid to go to sleep tonight incase I grind my teeth..This is just something else to worry about..lol oh man..

For a slight moment I thought maybe my skull changed..because of the immense pressure that came, I felt like I was gonna almost faint..

Oh, oh, maybe something simple but with all the pain and pressure I would say go get help. I'd say a Dr, nurse or clinic or even emerg if all others are closed. Lots can happen with jaw but pain is kind of serious.

I don't want to scare you but sometimes the pain can be a warning for us.

Take care

It sounds like you may need to see a dentist right away. You may have TMD or some call it TMJ. TMD is temporomandibular disorder and it occurs as a result of problems with the jaw, jaw joint and surrounding facial muscles that control chewing and moving the jaw. You can get more information at WebMD.com. Good luck.

I just wanted to add that I am 19 years old, I have been searching on google since the incident, and I have mostly been searching on terms to what I have been feeling or seeing..

I wonder if these is wisdom teeth related aswell, because mine have been coming in, and I noticed my very back tooth on the bottom, left side..I'm assuming its a wisdom tooth because it looks like its coming in..anyways, there is like a bump, just a fleshy bump, its not a sore..and its covering half of this tooth..

the thing is..I also have another molar..and half of the tooth is missing off of that one, I havnt been to the dentist since last year, and I had told my dentist about this tooth, because he never mentioned it, it was always me bringing it up to him. Anyways, I knew there was a cavity, and now half of the tooth is completely gone.

But I also grind my teeth, and I feel discomfort, strain, like I said, it just feels "off" like something was pulled or changed, because when I smile now, it looks like my teeth arent aligned, slightly, but still, I think it changed..and the neck pain, I thought maybe a fractured cervical vertebrae, because of the pain in the neck..and my neck feels different and then I went off and got into looking at straining yourself when singing..I had been singing alot yesterday..maybe I pulled something from singing too hard or loud? I don't know..

I'm kind of freaked out to go and seek help, I mean..I came on this forum to share my experiences with my past..and my mom having PTSD and how much suffering it is, experiences I've been through..and I came here and signed up at a very low point when I thought about giving up, I know I have depression, severe depression, I have always been depressed and seperated myself apart from people. I won't even seek help about THOSE issues, something like this freaks me out..I dont know..

And Thank you for your help IceStatue and sleeplessgirl..

I think I'm going to wait a couple days..to see if anything changes..If not..or it gets worse..which probably means..when I can't handle the pain or pressure anymore..I'll go up to the hospital to see what can be done.

(Sorry if this is the wrong place, I started it on the first inital thought of "teeth grinding in sleep" so I didnt know where to put it, Maybe it could be put into general health..or something more fitting.)

Thank you again.

Teeth grinding is not that uncommon so don't feel as if you are the only one out there experiencing this. It sounds to me that stress may be a factor is what you are experiencing because stress can manifest in many ways that one can never imagine. I am a witness to that.

I never really realized how stress played such a big part in affecting your body in physical ways. I hope things work out for you, but I belief when you are ready to see someone you will.

Hi Stephanie,
It sounds to me like you have made your jaw click. I've done this myself and it can really hurt, and also startup a headache. If carries on for too long see your dentist.

As for teeth grinding, you need a biteguard* made, as grinding can do quite bit of damage to teeth. Again you will need to see your dentist about this.

While you are there, they could also look into if your wisdom teeth are pushing your other teeth forward, which possibility might explain why your bite it might not feel right.

*In a former life i was a Dental Technician and used to make these amongst other things.

I would see your dentist ASAP as this could very well be TMJ and with that you need certain things to be done or the pain can get worse.... I have TMJ and I have a mouth guard my dentist made for me and I have to wear it at night when I sleep (I also use it when I take a nap).
