So today is the first day in my whole life that I am slightly concerned about my food/drink intake.

I am fortunate to have a very good metabolism and have stayed smalled my entire life, no matter what I eat or drink (Or course I realize that just because I stay thin does not mean that what I eat and drink is good for my insides).

However, I now have what I have named "The Lithium Gut." I have put on about 10 pounds or so since I have started Lithium. However, I have also been eating worse than ever, so I'm sure it is both combined.

I know that is is especially important to drink water when on Lithium. However, I have ignored this. I absolutely adore soda, specifically ginger ale and root beer. I also love Gatorade.

I don't like to drink water. It has no flavor! Please don't suggest flavored water because it makes me want to throw up.

This is going to be difficult. I'm sitting here at my desk eating my lunch and I have an unopened bottle of water next to me. It's boooorrrring.

I also love to eat junk food of every kind. That will be hard to moderate.

I do love all sorts or fruits and vegetables.

I really don't know how to change my habits. I got a coffee today with no sugar in it and I was so proud of myself until my coworker reminded me that I also got extra cream in it, lol.

I started with carbonated/sparkling water so I could pretend it was soda Water sucks.

I have Deerpark deliver their bottles in various entertaining sizes once a month as the thought of carting it from grocery store to home, etc. is worse than buying kitty litter. Starting with small bottles, 8 oz. helps too. "Pods". I have those upstairs and drink one when I take my meds and if I get up to pee in the night, etc.

The various waters in the grocery store have different tastes; you could "experiment" and try some of each brand to see if you preferred one over the other. My stepson only drinks water and we're talking a gallon at a time (it's amusing in restaurants; he gets his own pitcher of water and the rest of us get another to share but he still runs out but getting the wait person to understand what is required is humorous) and he won't drink certain brands! How they're "treated" or something makes a difference apparently. I can't tell but trying to make an experiment out of it would get my interest up enough so I'd at least drink for that reason.

good luck!

the only water I like is right out of the tap. I have a hard time when I eat out because I ask for just a glass of water from the tap, not chilled, no ice, etc. Usually I get it chilled from some machine, or with ice, or the worst, a lemon swimming in it! Where the :*$L# has that lemon been?!

I admire you. Coffee with no sugar/sweetner I can't do.

I don't really like water either. I have learned to love Iced Tea! It is like water, only it has some flavor too (not flavored water, LOL)
I only put 1/4 cup of sugar in a whole pitcher and I love it.
I like the Cinnamon apple, cinnamon or the Orange spice flavors.
I used to be a HUGE soda drinker, but now it's only like once or twice a week I have a soda....as a treat.

Good luck and I hope you find something you like besides plain water! LOL

I love soda a lot, too...and can't get past the flavor of water, either. So basically the only time water is anywhere near me is when I brush my teeth or take a shower! Yeah...bad I know.

I am so addicted to Mountain Dew, it's not funny. Hey, maybe we could kinda be online buddies with this??? Wanna try? I know I seriously need to kill the soda addiction I have....I'll be your addiction buddy if ya want!

Pink try a squeee of lemon or lime or both in your water. I do it all the time and I need to drink at least a gallon a day.

When I don't I feel like crap...It really makes a world of difference. Try some natural juices to by bottlehouse in your
produce section. You can add these to your water also.

Stay hydrated as our body is basically 98% water. Are brain is
almost 100%.

Your kidneys will love you too... Water sucks.

Why not try to add water before you take away what you like to drink... drink both! Don't make too many changes at once, as one is tough enough to work on imo.

I feel your pain. I never liked drinking plain water. It's almost as hard as the diet & exercise part...just to drink that much.

Crystal Light is...okay. Kinda funky tasting. But better than boring water sometimes. Iced Tea can be good too, and green tea helps with weight loss (supposedly).

I like water better in a glass with tons of ice - not a bottle. I know it's weird but I swear it tastes different.

You know what? I would drink iced tea if I wasn't so lazy in making it! It's the same duty as when I'm making coffee (not enough sunlight to make tea around my house with all those trees). I need to kick myself in the head. Lol! I know there are instant tea out there, but I actually prefer home-made iced tea.
