I went to a place called compasscare....they told me i wasn't pregnant....i was like but im only 2 days late how accurate is a urine test that early? they seemed to think it was finely accurate.....I hear a serum test is more accurate and not until a week after your missed period..........

I think the amount of time you should wait depends on the test, if you buy a test it will say on the box how long to wait. I usually wait till I am about one and a half weeks late before I take a test.

The tests that measure the highest amount of hcg- as in 150- are most reliable in terms of "Yes you really DO have lots of pregnancy hormone in you!". However, most people like to use ones that say they measure 25-50, and in fact, that's what the "early test" kits do- 20-25. The problem with those is that if you leave them sit past the time frame, they CAN turn positive when you're not really pregnant. That, and/or you might have another issue going on that was picked up by the test. (Just happened to me.)

All in all, buy another test and retest. When I've been pregnant "for real", the tests showed positive at the time my period was due.

I would redo the test when you have gone a month past your regular period date......... as I was told for two months (yes - you heard me right - two months) that I was not pregnant and guess what I was - baby was born in the month via my missed period time table and not that of the doctor that told me three months later via a blood test that I was pregnant - lol.
