Does anyone get them particularly around the holidays or when you're stressed out? I have Herpes... and there is this nasty one on my lip and it hurts soo bad! I have the topical med for it, does anyone know if there is a medication to prevent this type of herpes... I know there is one for genital herpes but I have the other kind

My sister in law has this. Herpes Simplex. Be sure that this is all you have as many ppl with genital herpes also have cold sores. Valtrex is all I know for it. There are many webpages of information, have you tried a gCold soreoogle search?

<font color="blue">I don't get cold sores, but due to my TMD my jaw spasms and I bite my tongue, cheeks, and lower lip! While some of the chomps have been quite severe, at least they heal quickly. The swellling that lingers is easier to cover with lipstick. sigh. sorry ya'll have this to add to your other problems.

Spaz, I get cold sores now and then, and my sister the nurse showed me a handy trick years ago. When you first sense it starting to come on -- I can tell by the tingling on my lip -- slice open a capsule of Vitamin E and rub it all over the area. Keep slathering with Vitamin E three or four times a day. Not only does it help with the pain, it helps keep the stupid thing from spreading.

I am serious. I have used this for years and it works every time. Worth a shot.

I get them. UGh. since i was a kid. I try some vitamin treatments. They suggest acidophilous, MSM, vitamine C, magnesium and calcium, and Lycin (i think thats how you spell it.. Its the stuff in yogurt).

Also, try a ibprophin to reduce the inflamation and pain. Drink lots of water to help de-stress yourself. Avoid all carb type foods with breads. Also avoid foods which stress the body - soda, fatty foods, etc. Um.. what else have i read.. Dunno.

Now i have an awkward question. I've had fever blisters since i was a kid, but I also was molested. Wouldn't i know if I contracted genital herpes from "him"?
