<font color=red>2 days now on my left side of my neck I've been so sore, yesturday I was almost in tears cause my neck was killing me ... It went away for a bit, so I went on the eliptical for like 25mins, then cooled off. I was feeling good.....After a couple of hours shortly before I went to bed it started to ache, I figured that I would sleep it off, then this morning when I woke up my neck was sore it still is now....16 hrs later!! tried heat, that doesn't work..

Help!

Sorry, I can't read the rest, typed in "yellow" but my question is, have you seen an orthepeadic (sp?) doc about this?
I used to get neck problems, now just every few years rotator cuff problems, last one took 7 monts of Physical Therapy and of course, at home exercises
I haven't read your previous posts so if this question has been asked already, just pass this by.
PT (physical therapy) can help, providing the doc has written the proper prescription for the physical therapist to follow with you. I feel for you, I have had so many past neck problems, sciatic nerve problems and then rotator cuff problems, the pain and stiffness is a b i t c h.
One time I even had to have a soft neck collar for my neck, and therapy for it.
I hope you will soon be getting some relief.

Take care,
DE

No hon my other posts are on all different subjects. Why would it just come out there if there was a problem?

Sorry about the yellow I did change that, it was just a inspirational saying

I do sleep on an old OLD bed that my dad had when he was a kid, one pillow and a crappy squishy mattress? Maybe sleeping on it for so many years, since I waaaas.......15? I think, maybe I need to harden it up or something, put a board underneath?

God this hurts though, I want to go to my nieces last day of play group tomorrow, this is literally a PAIN IN THE NECK!!!!!!!!

hmm... have you tried icing it? maybe ice it down, if you haven't, for a few minutes. try to rub it down from top to bottom, and then heat it up. I hope that helps. It not, it might be an interesting experience.

Hi Sundance,

My fiance also has horrendous neck pain due to 12 years of wrestling and then a car accident a few years ago. What I do for him really works to get rid of it - you can do it on yourself. Follow the major muscle that is hurting up your neck until you run into your skull. There will be a notch/dent where you suddenly can't keep going up the back of your head. This is the attachment point and where the muscle starts its contraction. Press your thumb REALLY hard into that notch for about 15-20 seconds. It's going to hurt but trust me, it's worth it - this will cause the muscle to 'reset' itself and relax by breaking the contraction pattern. It also interrupts the pain signals the overly sore muscle is sending.

I hope it helps! I'm really sore ... Welcome to the boards, by the way, since I haven't done so already I'm really sore ...!

AHHH!!! Sorry if I made it worse! I only run on the experience I have with pulling muscles in my legs and arms due to dance related injuries. Man, it's a fun activity, but in the end, you wonder if it is worth all the pain. Sorry if I made it worse! You can pinch me, if you want. Or we can trade. Email me the neck pain, I'll fix it. Dang, did that sound just as retarded to anyone else?!

toneMe LOL I'll email you ALL my pain... tell me how!!!

Sorry Sundance... maybe you got into a draft or something? Heat, ice, rest (not eliptical machines!) is basic stuff... plus pain med... so far you got it covered... plus I use a TENS unit... but it doesn't help some types of pains... good wishes...

No i'll keep it I don't want to give it to you, then you'd have to deal with it and no I will keep it thank you very much I'm really sore ...

I did try and massage it abit, and my dad actually bought me one of those pillows so hopefully that will do some justice. They are SO uncomfortable though, you can't snuggle into it... I'm really sore ... guess we'll see.
