So this morning I put my hand on my breast and noticed that my nipple was usually firm,
it wasn't erect (like it would be if I was horny), it was pretty much flat against my areola... and it was just really hard.

I pushed on it and it hurt like hell... the pain radiated throughout my whole areola up to about half way up my breast.
So I started feeling around and lo and behold... I felt something that I have never felt before.
A lump about the size of a dime!!!!!

I am in shock. I mean, I am 23 years old... I am too young to have a lump!!!!!
I always thought this was something that happened to woman in like their 40's. I am scared out of my mind *cries*

Before you start panicking too much, remember that lumps can be calcium formations, they can fatty deposits, they can be cysts. Now that you found the lump, take the next step---zero excuses---and go to the doctor. Until you can get to the doctor, which needs to be soon, try to remain calm. You'll probably be asked questions like your age when you started your menses, where in your cycle you are, is there a family history of breast cancer, are you on any medication. So think about the answers, if you don't call, call a family member to help you out. The only reason I am urging you to act swiftly on this is because the sooner you know, the better you will be. Manda, I will hold you in my prayers. Please let me know what you find out. I am a huge breast cancer awareness advocate. Almost every female on my mother's side has had it.

(((( Manda ))))

There are ducts there and they can become blocked, among other explanations. It's scary, but we don't know what it is yet.
Lots of normal stuff can happen to us so it's good to try to postpone our reaction until we know with certainty what is going on.

When will you be able to see your doctor, Manda?
Thanks for this!

Ditto on seeing your physician and ditto on not panicking...

Manda,

Great job on not panicking into total nut job! Maybe it was some sort of inflamation that resolved on its own. Pretty scary though, huh?

I suggest keeping the appointment if you made one. Just to follow through on the event and give you some added peace of mind.

If you've cancelled the appointment or never made one, make sure you report this occurence to your regular doctor at your next visit. Having regular doc pay special attention to this would be nothing but wise.

When is your next physical scheduled for?

I'm glad you're ok!

Good to hear and please note that the breast can get many lumps / bumps during your period that will vanish once your flow is finished for the month.
