What can you do for a pulled muscle? I think I pulled a muscle in my chest from coughing so much. I have bronchitis again and have this dull ache in my chest and it won't go away no matter what I do. I have tried ibuprofen and tylenol. I mentioned it to the ER doc and to my regular doc today but neither seemed concerned and both attributed it to the amount of coughing I've been doing. I was given tessalon pearls and today some Pulmacort to do 2xs a day in my nebulizer along with my every 4 hour Albuterol treatments. The problem is they didn't give me anything for the pain in my chest. The pain is almost unbearable and I don't want to go back to the ER for the pain because I don't want them to think I'm a hypocondriac that is just after pain pills. I am in so much pain though.

Any suggestions?

Jan

Oh, how horrible you must feel.
I don't know what to do either. But I know what it feels like, it was embarrassing too because I would grab my chest every time I coughed and well you know how that is in public.

I would call your doctor again and tell him just how bad it is. There has to be something to help. Good luck

when my asthma is really bad i use alleve for the muscle pain (seems to work better and is less toxic for the kidneys/liver) and also i do the hot steamy shower thing. also i use a vaporizer or a pot of hot water on the stove and drape a towel over my head and breathe in the steam from that...it helps to mositen things up and make the breathing easier.

sometimes when the chest pulls are bad they hesitate (with me anyway) to give anything for pain because my breathing is already compromised and that would make it more so....os the trick is to loosen up the congestion inside the lungs which will make it easier to bring crap up and ease the pain.

I think I figured out what part of the pain is from also. This is kind of gross but anyway. I am constipated and really need to poop and know that I am really backed up and that has got to be part of the pain. I am working on that though. Gotta love Miralax and Magnesium Citrate.

Hi Jbug,

three cheers for Miralax

I had an open abdominal surgery last August to repair a prolapsed rectum. Mostly it (prolapse) was due to chronic constipation (and prior childbirth and chronic cough---) I'm been told by the docs to stay on Mirilax --- plus I'm always watching my fiber intake. I really never want to go through a surgery like that again.

Hope the pulled muscle has improved by now. Take care,

Hope it "all comes out" okay, JBug :-) I wake in the night uncomfortable sometimes and go to the bathroom and things are much better again.
