A fellow teacher is selling this Monavie brand of Acai liquid. She says it helps with joint health, etc. I did some research on the Acai products, and found that the Monavie is not the best...It's more like a money-making pyramid scheme. My coworker tried to elicit me to sell it, which would put another notch in her pyramid.
But! I did find information that Acai is a good product. I've ordered the Acai berry pulp from Amazon.com under the product name, "Amazon Thunder," which gets good reviews, compared to the Monavie, which reviewers said did not much to nothing.
I just wondered if any of you here have used any of the Acai products.

I have never heard of the Monavie, goes to show you how out of the loop I am..

BUT even OPRAH had Acai on her show!!! WoW (sarcasm)

My guess is that it is just like anything else that is good for us, a healthy balance works best. Too much of anything can make us ill.

Antioxidants Right?
-BENEFITS
-Protect against Cancer, heart disease, cataracts, and other degenerative diseases
-May slow the aging process
-Prevent the spoilage of oils and processed foods
DRAWBACKS
-May have detrimental effects if taken as high-dose supplements

JUST FOODS

RED and PINK:
Tomatoes, red and pink grapefruit, watermelon, and papaya all contain lycopene, an antioxidant that is thought to help fight heart disease and some cancers.

GREEN:
Green Vegies like Spinach, collard greens, kale, and broccoli are rich in fiber, have antioxidant properties, and help keep eyes healthy.

PURPLE AND BLUE:
Anthocyanin, the pigment that makes blueberries and other fruits blue, is being studied for it's ability to help the body defend itself against harmful carcinogens.

I'd talk to your dr. before you take any (and hope you can get your money back if necessary). Acai can interfere with all sorts of prescription meds.

I guess I'm just naturally more skeptical, because I expect that eventually this will go the way of every other herbal fad and be found to have absolutely no health benefit -- particularly since herbals aren't regulated, and what you *think* you're getting might be something else entirely.
