I've been trying for years and today marks another attempt. I'm expecting this to fail too.

Maybe it helps if you state specific reasons why it failed. What is it you want your kid to go to therapy for? Why is s/he against it? Which approaches have you tried so far? You do know some therapists do home visits right? (although I would not advice jumping your kid with a therapist at home without talking about it first)

My 17 yo son refuses to get professional help. He self diagnosed with ASHD and depression and did see a psychologist, but since then things have gotten worse and now he refuses any help (says he's not ready for it and also that talking to anyone makes him extremely anxious). So struggling to get him to actually talk to a professional.
Good luck! |

Would it be possible to connect therapy with something pleasant for your child? Maybe you can agree to stop for ice cream on the way home? And maybe tell your child he/she has to spend x time (50 minutes, an hour, whatever the therapist does for session length) with the therapist in a room but doesn't have to talk if he/she doesn't want to?
