What are your retirement plants?
I hope finical area is ok to ask this.

In all honesty, it Sounds like a cruel joke to me right now, sorry I am not in a chipper mood.

Right now I scrape by as it is, i have no money to save. Not even for a emergencies.

I have been horrible at planning for the future due to partially, I never thought I would make it past 18, then never thought I would make it past 25...
I am 26 going on the 27, and I realize more each day--- that I probably will make it to 60 or past it, is very probable.
However, by the time I myself, and the people of my age group, reach "retirement age" we wont be retiring -- we will be working... with no assistance perhaps.

That is already going on NOW with people that "retire" they have to get either part time jobs, or stick at their jobs to make it... Sure they may get a little social security but not enough to make it on.

Even some with the 401K's are having to still go part time.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great for people that are older to have something to do, and a job for them to work at I think is a wonderful way for them to stay vibrant and sharp, I really think it helps them to stay active and all...

but it should be a choice by their age- Not anther demand.

Guess I need to face the facts huh?,
Either I need to come up with a plan asap with hording money or making a lot of it in a short time..... Or i'll work till i fall over dead one day, eventually.

I remember when I started working, I told myself, a quarter of my pay check would go into savings.... I don't know what the hell i was thinking, I don't do anything these days, i have bills... sure maybe after the bills are over I can start to save.

I am waiting honestly to either fall or hurt myself again and have more bills though.. endless cycle of bills....

I don't know, I just thought to ask some others-- What are Your Retirement plans?
Perhaps give me a little hope if some actually believe they can do this.....

Don't just get your impressions from the TV/Internet/scare mongers. You have 40 years to plan and save for retirement if that is what you want to do. Sure, Social Security as it is now will be very different perhaps but so will life itself.

I had a hand-to-mouth job life in my 20's and 30's and my lifestyle changed and I changed and I was able to retire when I was 55 (I'm 62 now) and it is fine. My life is very similar to before I retired but I have time to work on all my own projects instead of going to work for someone else. I get up and go to bed when I please and can go on vacation/take breaks whenever I want, etc. It's all about planning.

Social Security after 30 years of working is a nice bit of extra money saved; no, not enough to live on but quite helpful when added to one's other investments and retirement savings. My husband even managed to get a little pension from one large company he worked for, they're still out there too sometimes. It's like any other life step, picking colleges/majors/careers and working on them, putting children through college, having money goals of any sort; you have to work on it.

Hi there! I think it is nice of you to think of your retirement plans this early because most people don't care about it.^^

I recommend you to read Bo Sanchez's My Maid Invests in Stock Market. Free ebook of this is given in this site Truly Rich Club.

Bo Sanches advises people to have their money invested in mutual funds or in stock market as their retirement plan. Why should you invest in mutual funds? Here is the link Why You Should Invest in Mutual Funds?

I hope it can help you!
Thanks for this!

Awesome comments, Perna, course, not everyone plans as well as you. But as you know, one picks oneself up from where they are, and moves forward!

Good idea, I will check this out! One should go forward from where one is and not accept defeat as an option, if at all possible! Be well!
