I do not have insurance & live from one paycheck to another. I have been getting mixed opinions on Obama Care, so I have yet to make a decision. Where I go from here is the question. I need advice on how to get through my depression from scratch, given my current situation. How do I find a psychiatrist? Is there a way to get medication that I don't know about? I've talked to family & friends, gone as far as talking to strangers on help hotlines... Everyone is suggesting I need professional help, but I have no idea how to go about it.

If you don't do "ObamaCare"... which is really all the normal insurance companies being made available to you at a cost adjusted to what you can afford, at subsidized fees, with the stipulation that they can't deny anyone based on preexisting conditions, what would be your alternative?

Basically anyone who chooses to not have insurance next year will be held liable for fees/fines.

I would recommend starting with nami.org... you can seek your local/state nami through there and often they have resources for low income or free providers.
Thanks for this!

I would look at my County resources: Orange County, California - Adult Mental Health Services call around there and see if they have suggestions. See if there is a clinic I could get to easily?

Hi AshNbirds

I was in your same position about 10 months ago. I myself was in denial over needing mental health help. My sisters made an intervention and made me call 211, which transferred me to the mental crisis hotline and they referred me to the local Mental Health Network. Most cities/counties have a Mental health clinic/network and they will help you no matter what your income is. If you have low or no income, they can charge very low fees in order for you to get help. You can start by looking up the Mental Health Network in your city/county, give them a call and you'll be on your way. They can help you with therapy, medication. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I am not an expert but am willing to help other people that are starting out by giving them as much information as possible! I wish you the best!
Thanks for this!
