In the US, ObamaCare has been in effect, and causing me lots of headaches and STRESS. I have been without insurance for 21 days and counting. My meds out of pocket cost $1700 Plus other generic drugs. Needless to say, I am stressed because the accounting department has failed to find my check for the insurance that was suppose to start on the first of this month. My mind is always on that, and it's getting in the way of everyday life. Had Obama not pushed for this, I could have had insurance several weeks ago. OH and the website, FAILS to tell you everything to know about the plan, so if your planning on getting it through the website, then contact a person.

And then there's the stress of college, and need to find another job that does not cause pain. (can't lift anything, too much repetition hurts, and can't type for very long)

After much difficulty, I'm insured again. It just took 2 phone calls, and visiting the insurance company. At least one stress is over. (Idaho)

This just keeps getting WORSE!! Turns out that even though the check was lost in the mail, I don't have health insurance. I thought I was getting it, and then today happens. My drugs WITHOUT insurance are $3602.05. I don't know how to even get through the night now. there''s just so much worry over it, that I don't even want to do anything. This is the worst news I could have received today. The company TERMINATED my account, due to the letter never got there. It's been 2.5 weeks, why can't they find the check??

Doesn't surprise me at all, Obamacare is a train wreck that has hurt more people than it has helped.

Health care laws are more strict then they need to be. WAY more strict. If it's past the 15th then you have to wait until the month after to get insurance, which is what I had to do. I was 20 days without insurance. because of that stupid law.

I had a similar experience. Mine was suppose to start in February, paid for and everything, but they sent us cards with the wrong group number on it so it wouldn't work. I called they said they had the problem fixed and sent us the exact same card. I was March before we got a working card. I spent hours on the phone with them plus the stress.

I have a new card and a new policy...with a rate that is 50% higher a month than last year (a shade under $1000 a month), and a deductible that doubled to $7000. How is that "affordable"?
Thanks for this!

Puzzclar,
Check with your bank to see if the check has been cashed; if they cashed the check, get a copy of when and take/send a copy in to the insurance.

This is really a tough issue and is going to hit us all before long--- wake up America!?

IMO the AHCA was never about providing health care, but requiring everyone to have insurance. It's a matter of control, identifying everyone in the USA, not providing health care.

I'm awake...I wish others would, as you have. Social control...period. I think some people are in for a very rude awakening in the next couple of years. I am not looking forward to October when the new proposed rates are issued. If it is anything like this year, my rates will increase another $500 monthly. How is a $6,000 annual increase affordable?

We've had employer-based insurance for forever. It's always been a bit overpriced in my book, but it had a low deductible and would pay for pretty much everything. Now, for the last two years, we've paid more money and get crap from it. Last year, we had outpatient visits $1500 per person, period, for everything, so I couldn't see a therapist regularly for fear of getting sick. This year, I have a $2500 deductible that has to be paid before they'll pay for anything. I've been seeking help for 2 full years and not closer at all. I will never get the help I need.

Obamacare has been amazing for me. I don't know why some people are having such difficulty with it. It's possible that your state is not handling the health care reform process properly. I live in California and it's been a breeze.

Also, I've spoken with people who have had issues with signing up...I started my sign-up process in late November so I had a lot of time to get into the system. For people who started later, I think it's harder to get hooked up.

Why? Is it your state? I know there are some states where rates went up because of how the state dealt with Medicaid or there are not enough hospitals. I know that the mountain area in my state has the highes rates in the country but I don't think it is that bad. Was the insurance you not in compliance? Did you look for another plan? I just hear people complaining about prices but I never hear the reason given.

What kind of dr visit is 1500? At that I just wouldn't use the insurance.

I don't understand why anybody mails in checks anymore. If I do it is electronically from the bank and even that can get messed up sometimes. Heck I don't understand why anybody, even small businesses take checks anymore. Just not worth the hassle. I have a new account that doesn't even issue paper checks and the electronic ones don't even have numbers.

My company is ending our insurance because it is not compliant. I have a week or so to decide what to do. I am looking at HSAs. Prescription drugs are one of things it is supposed to cover. I am not sure if there are any requirements as far as which drugs. If they are branded you are going to have a harder time.

That's the thing with Obamacare it is kicking people off of their old insurance plans and giving them this socialized version of health-care that for many people is worse than what they had before.

It really isn't socialized. The reason plans are being disco'd is because they aren't compliant. You can still find that sort of plan. You just have to pay 95 or 1% of your income next year. There was a story this morning. The reason they go up is if you live in an area like aspen and don't have work ins which would not be so location specific. Every thing is more expensive but they are still investigating. Or you live in a state that didn't take in Medicaid expansion. I already knew this but the news confirmed it. I keep asking for another reason but nobody comes up with one. They other major reason is they didn't have it before. They will pay the fine which is less. They still have a choice.

As a contractor I have the choice of group ins from my company but they don't cover any of it so the only bene is it is group. Or I can go private which I will probably do. My state went with med exp. I live in an urban area. I am finding the plan prices to be about the same. The old plan was a couple/few hundred per month cheaper. But I don't get rx coverage until after ded. I don't spend 1200 or whatever it is in a yr on drugs and I have to submit receipts. A couple years ago they wanted to verify with a doctor and the jerk ignore them. I lost several hundred over that. I could have used an hsa and it would have been so much easier. I still believe premiums will go down over time.

So how much did your plan go up and do any of the above scenarios fit?

I am not denying it is stupidly expensive but you guys are saying it is MORE expensive for no discernible reason. I don't want a system based on insurance but that is what was negotiated. That, btw, is why it is not socialized medicine.
