In the USA there are options for you that I know of. Google Catholic Charities in your area as they have therapists available. You can also serch for social services which can get you free help and work with you.

If you make a decent income but can't afford it, it's very hard. Been searching for two years. Obamacare has basically screwed me over. We have a 2500 deductible to meet before they will pay for anything and no free clinics will take me because I officially have insurance.

I paid $100 out of pocket x 40-45 weeks or $4250 a year. Using insurance one has to pay monthly for anyway to get almost a 50% discount is not a good thing?

I have medical assistance so I don't have to pay for my sessions.

I'm not sure about other states, but here in AZ there's a place called SAMHC that will see you for free&they have drs on hand all the time in case of crisis. I went to them bc I was dx'd as bipolar in 1997 but refused tx. After 12yrs of suffering inside myself I went there and talked to a dr who did tests and all kinds of stuff and then told me that yes, I'm bipolar and yes, I needed RXs, but I had no job so I couldn't afford over $1000 a month for meds. They set me up thru Medicaid here and bc bipolar disorder is considered a Serious Mental Illness I got/get free EVERYTHING. But you can look up NAMI and I'm sure u can get at least sent off in the right direction.

you can check out community mental health clinics. They are not all great, but they can work with sliding scales, and sometimes have free services.

There were some changes at community mental health clinics after everyone was required to have insurance. I did alright because I don't have much income and qualified for medicaid. County funding went away though and copays are required at time of service.
