I am scared. I have been on SSI for 5 years (I think?), and just received notice that I need to do a phone interview by mid-May. I have NO IDEA what I need to do to prepare myself. I am really poor at focusing when I feel under pressure. For instance, I have a very hard time with recall of words, activities, etc. with anyone, really. But, when I'm nervous, the poor results increase significantly!
Those who don't know me often become frustrated on the phone (or in person) because I am always struggling to find the right words. Hell, people who DO know me become frustrated/irritated with me about it. I can't help but worry what this SS guy is going to be thinking! ![]() Please wish me luck, and share any wisdom that you may have about what I can expect. Thank you!

Good Luck Shez, I struggle talking on the phone too, I would tell the guy that you struggle with this when he calls you so he will understand, Is the interview to make should you're receiving the right amount of money? I know they do this here in Uk.

It is likely to review your case.
If you are nervous about doing it over the phone, you may be able to schedule an interview in person [i actually don't see why not if you feel this would serve you better and you would be able to attend such an interview]- I would call your local SSA and ask. Since you recently recieved notice I can't imagine it would be a big issue to schedule if you call to inquire soon. Also, ask what the meeting/interview is regarding and if you should have any information with you. It isn't a trick- they won't schedule you in, say June, and then send you a notice revoking your benefits because they originally said you had to have it by mid may. You can ask what you should have prepared and details about the interview, they won't think you sneaky and they won't be sneaky about it. |

SSA interviews recipients all the time. They check up to see if there are any changes in your disabilities, household, work situation, doctors, etc. When I first received my SSDI, I was informed that they "might" interview me again in 7 years. I think the reason for the 7 years is that I'm a bit older and, by that time my disability will be transferred to retirement because I'll be in that age group. ![]() Maybe it would help to write out a script for yourself. If you can't do what Josie suggested and have a face to face interview, then a script would help you to let them know upfront when they call what your issues are with speaking on the phone. It will be okay shezbut.....I promise! ![]() |

They probably just want to review your case and make sure that you are still eligible for SSI.

I do these reviews for my sons case. They usually ask a bunch of questions, sit, answer. Then give instructions on any forms they may want. From me, usually yearly child support printout.
Good luck. Sent from my LG-MS910 using Tapatalk 2 |

Update: I called the SS phone number given in the notice to me, and left a message. It has now been 4 business days...and I haven't heard back yet. I wonder if I should call again?
