I'm in Massachusetts and have now asked SSDI no fewer than 3 times if I need to report the income I make on a MONTHLY basis as long as it is less than $770 and my income doesn't change. All 3 times, SSDI said, "no."
(To be clear, I was required to tell SSDI other stuff once (not MONTHLY): 1. That I was working. 2. How much I was making. 3. What I was doing to earn money. And they told me there's no need to contact them MONTHLY unless something changes.) Everyone else in the world, besides these 3 SSDI reps, seems to think the opposite. I guess I'll just believe SSDI. And I asked SSDI if this information is in writing somewhere. The answer is, "no." Your thoughts? |

I would treat it like one does a check? You have the equivalent of a cancelled check that says you did not make more than $770 for that month, so, if they try to come after you later, it's not like there will be any surprises/need to for them come after you in the first place? You have the amount you made and proof, if they do want it later. Nothing bad can happen with that. Did you take down the 3 SSDI reps's names?

@Perna:...not sure why the reps' names are needed.
