As many of you know, I applied for disability about three years ago--November of 2011. I kept getting denied, so in June of 2012, I got me a lawyer who appealed the denial for me. In August of last year, we had a hearing before a judge and in the following November, (2013) I got a notice of unfavorable decision, so my lawyer appealed that. Well, yesterday, over a year later, I got a notice from Social Security stating that they decided NOT to review my case and that they consider the judge's decision to be final. My lawyer isn't sure he really wants to take it to the federal and, even if we did go that route, I would have to pay a $450 fee! So, I guess that's it.

meet the bluebook listing and you shouldn't get denied. I only had 6 months of records.

I'm sorry to hear that. What a long wait to only be denied, what a shame.

have you requested your file from your local social security office? It will have a breakdown of everything and tell you why you were denied. It will tell you which listings you didn't meet and everything.

I have been through that already--and still cannot find one thing real reason they have denied me.

Well you should have no trouble getting a job right?

Disability income sucks anyways and being on it comes with lots of stigma and people trying to guilt you about using the money for anything you enjoy that is not an absolute necessity like if you so much as enjoy a movie from red-box there's people who will jump on you for that....not all its cut out to be, being on disability.

Yes, ssdi was never meant to live on. My paralegal told me she had a client with terminal cancer who was denied.

(((((shortandcute)))))

You have been fighting for a long time, indeed. I am sorry that things haven't gone well for you. Social Security must have some sort of excuse as to why your case has been denied.

I have been on SSI for 6 years, I think? Anyway... it is not an easy road. Every 6 months - 1 year I have a slew of paperwork that needs to be filled out again. Ridiculous! I have gotten hopeful a couple of times, thinking that I might be able to get off SSI and maybe get a decent paying job someday. {I was in absolute La -La Land with those thoughts!} It's just hard sometimes, because there's a real heavy & thick ceiling between disabled and general society. Hard to describe what I'm feeling. Sorry. I am thankful that I was awarded SSI, of course, but it can be a tough challenge. Maybe trying to figure out another plan is the right choice for you now.

Gentle hugs and best wishes to you.
