Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I'm unclear about what you are considering telling your parents right now.

I do remember we spoke previously about how you were with your dad iirc and he allowed you to buy girls' underwear. I was impressed at that. How do you think they will react if you tell them about transgender?

Please: even if they react badly, do not harm yourself. Sometimes it takes parents a while to get used to something. Please give them time and also ask them for the chance to speak to a therapist who is knowledgeable about transgender. That person could help you navigate the change.

Sorry, yes, socks.

True, but many parents would say "You cannot have girls' socks, period." That definitely is what my parents would have said. With anger.

How do you think your parents might react when you tell them?

If they do not accept you right away, please do not harm yourself. Please allow them time, and ask them to find a therapist or LGBQT-aware adult who can help them understand and support you. In fact, what if you first look around online yourself, or ask here for online resources, in order to help them understand you better right away, even before they speak with a therapist?
Thanks for this!

Hi The Squids,

There are a number of ways you could go about telling them. First, as we discussed, talk to a counselor at school and make a plan with them how to talk to your parents. The advantage of this would be that both you and your parents have a "neutral" person to talk to in the process.

Another method could be to write them a letter. Sometimes it is easier to write things down rather than say them. Or you could tell your parents about the "diversity" group and that you want to take part in it because you have been questioning your gender identity.

Does one of these scenarios sound like it could work?

Hugs, Adrian

Thanks both of you for the support and kraken thanks for the ideas well today is monday and time for me to try to sign up for allies in diversity thanks.

Hope I can tell them soon. Though I'm not 100% sure I'm transgender just I feel as if I would be more comfortable as a girl.

Hi so today was good, after school I typed up a note for my parents saying I'm transgender on my laptop. But I did not sign up for allies in diversity well, I can sign up later.

Also in a few weeks going to give note to parents, hope they take it good.<probably going to give

If I tell my parents I think I'll only do Testosterone blockers then if I grow up still feeling transgender I can do HRT, cause I read this.

Just figured some thing out, I have these huge white shirts that hang over my pants, so I use the to sleep this mourning I woke early and tested something I can tighten the back of my shirt to make it look like a one piece dress (I think, But I have never seen one).

I feel like if my parents 1.They will hate me 2.They will be okay 3.OVERREACTION <things I think may happen.

It's great you're getting closer to figuring things out for yourself 97% is pretty high! I think I myself only ever made it to about 94% certain, and I'm very sure I'm trans .

Well this is how it started for me 1-2: Don't remember 3-4: Did not really care about gender 5-5:Tiny bit of want to be girl 6-11:Again did not really care about gender 12-Now:Huge want to be girl

My life story with being transgender, estimated times.

What I'm saying is my transgenderness developed over time a lot in the dark(Me not really paying attention). Plus was a girl In every game I play.

And Kraken thanks for repelling. I feel like this thread is a little quiet lately.

The other 3% of me is like saying "BUT EVERYONE WILL HATE YOU".

Also this is something I need to say "Even if I do not end up being transgender I will always remain a transgender ally because I been this close to being one and you are all my friends."

Hey,

it is very normal for this to fluctuate. I'll be forty next year (I'm so oooooold), but I really only understood that I'm transgender about one and a half years ago.

For me, I often feel my "transness" more strongly when I'm in a strictly gendered environment and when my dysphoria is high. But that doesn't mean I'm not trans the rest of the time, it just means it doesn't hurt so much.

Thanks. I really agree that when in Binary gender environment it makes me feel a lot more transgender.
