Greetings everyone, I lost my father about 6 months back which was followed by my wife being diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer (now in chemo) and my mercurial boss is pressuring me to spend more time in NYC for work (I live in Los Angeles) so I am gone a lot. In all of this, I have a 3 year-old daughter. The pressure is destroying me. I am depressed nearly all of the time and cannot think of a single thing that makes me happy. I just get from one day to the next dealing with and fulfilling the needs of others. I am an absolute mess and totally overwhelmed.
Thanks for this!

((patxi)) I am sorry to hear you and your family are going through such a hard time. Does your company have a human resources department? If you are having trouble with you boss, maybe you could speak with someone in HR regarding your current job issues and request suggestions, e.g., time off so that you can personally re-group.

Since depression is an illness, it would make sense to see a T and/or to join a cancer caretaker / bereavement support group(s). Select a T who will let you do phone sessions in the event you are travelling.

Have you discussed your crisis with friends? That may help also as long as it's not over alcoholic drinks since alcohol is a depressant. Hang in there!
Thanks for this!

Welcome to PsychCentral! Is there any way you can find a therapist or a counselor or a minister to talk to about your issues?

Alcohol will just end up making things worse in the long run, it basically will keep pushing your problems away, but when you are sober, they are still there.

Have you given any thoughts to whom you could see or what you could do?
