I am so tired of my latest obsession. I know what caused it, what is fueling it but don't know how ti stop it.
I keep seeing roaches walking across my floor at night and when I go to squish it nothing it there. I will turn on the light so I get a better feel for it and nothing is there. You'd also think that if it was really there it would try to scurry for cover but nope there is nothing there. It comes from all the years of me keeping my apartment like a pig sty and having a huge roach problem but then again the building I was living in was infested with the little suckers. Well I have moved since then and I actually care about this apartment so try to keep it clean. I don't leave any food out. If the dishwasher is running while I go to sleep and there are still dishes in the sink I rinse them off to get rid of the food particles on them. Plus for awhile I had my mom doing apartment checks once a week to keep me accountable to keeping it clean. So with all that and the every other month spraying at my expense my apartment is bug free. I haven't seen a bug in over 3 months. Can anyone help me with this obsession I have with the roaches crawling across the floor? Jan

I understand what you are going through. Hard as it is, you have to control your thoughts and remind yourself there is no bugs because you have taken the necessary steps to keep them away. I know easier said than done.
I have OCD, also, and I have work to on my thoughts and obsessions at all times. I feel bad when I give into them. It is hard break these habits. My husband said just stop it period. I told him to stop smoking. I think he is getting a better understanding. Practice on waiting to double check. Each time try to make it longer than the last time. This is what the doctor told me. It does work. I do admit to falling of the wagon at times. I, also, do a lot of praying. Finding something to keep your mind occupied helps too. I don't know if I have been any help. Just letting you know I understand.

It does help...thanks. I get it because it is kind of what I am doing to quit my soda addiction and cigarette addiction. Instead of putting the soda in the fridge so all I have to do is grab one pop it open and drink it..now I have to open it, pour it in a glass and grab some ice to put in it because I don't like room temp. sodas. For my cigarettes I have placed the cigarettes in one drawer and the lighters in a different drawer so if I want a cigarette I have to make myself get up off the couch to go get one and then make the effort of opening drawers to get to them. So if I can just put the thought of the roaches in one compartment in my brain and only let it out when there really is a roach then it will be ok.
