But also the ones that are scary? The scenarios go beyond the usual disturbing, intrusive thoughts. They are also thoughts that don't pass and cause anxiety, but the scenarios scare you.

Ocd is the pits. I have thoughts, also, that just don't seem to go away and cause anxiety. I have to stay busy and at night I listen to something all night (a cd or tape) with earphones to keep my mind on something.

I have extremely intrusive, obsessive thoughts/images. They make me feel awful and a bad person and very anxious and very scared. I then feel a need to "CONFESS" and seek excessive reassurance. This cycle gets worse, so I have been doing quite well resisting "confessing" but the thoughts/images are daily and very, very recently, my OCD has seriously triggered off as well as other things which make it worse and I feel so distressed right now and very lost and a huge mess...
CBT is very useful for OCD treatment, too. Could that be accessed? |

All of these suggestions seem to be good ones. You may also want to try singing along with your favorite songs.

When I used to fight against the thoughts with no help of real therapy or medication, it only made them worse. I did start medication which helped to calm me down more than anything, and the less I was stressing about it, the less the ocd bothered me. It didn't mean I totally stopped acting on the repetative thoughts, but it made it easier for me to deal with and did decrease them as I was less anxious. But I guess that may not work for everyone.
What it really comes back to is you need therapy and possibly medication to help deal with the thoughts. At first they may not go, but it may help to how you react to them and whether you act on them. |

Sorry to post with nothing constructive for you. I've never even posted here in the OCD section. =3

![]() I used to have a number obsession/compulsion (3, if you're curious) I had to do things in threes--breathe, chew, step, blink, SI etc. I fought against it and thought it was gone...come to find out it has taken a different form is all. The one that sticks with me most is when I was chopping baby carrots one night and totally saw/felt my neice and nephews fingers with the carrots. ![]() |
