So i have never been diagnosed with ocd, but have had depression for past 10 years..I dont perform any rituals or excessive hand washing or anything like that but i do have terrible intrusive thoughts. It all started about a year ago during an interview at a new job, the manager coudnt have been a nicer guy but i kept having thoughts of spitting on his face! Then later i would have thoughts about kissing a friend of mine who is also a guy ( im totally hetrosexual ) , and also about harming myself or people i love. It seems the closer the person is to me the more these intrusive thoughts focus on them for example my father and my 4yo son. I love them very much and would never hurt them, and i know the difference between a thought and an urge and these are not urges, plus ive read up about ocd and this seems common so i know im not crazy, but what do i do to reduce these thoughts? any good meds people take? im on citrapopram which on helps a little. It also seems like i have to keep reading posts similiar to this just for reassurance that im not going crazy. Someone please give advice! It should also be noted ive been under alot of stress since this has been happening and think an anxiety disorder may be in play here as well.

Have you tried any relaxation techniques? Anxiety makes ocd worse so maybe lowering your anxiety could help. Here is a link to a list of relaxation techniques that I found http://www.marlasloane.com/relaxation.php
Here is a link to the ocd quiz on this site, it's not a diagnosing tool but could give you an idea if you are dealing with ocd http://psychcentral.com/ocdquiz.htm I am sending you some hugs ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thank you, i have tried some of these before, and they do work temporarily. These thoughts seem to come in waves, i will be fine for a few days or weeks and other days are brutal. I have been thinking about seeing a therapist but on my good days i feel that would be pointless..i am fine..other days i know i should..i dont know just confused

I have thoughts like this also...and it terrifys me...I moved my daughter back to her fathers because I keep having these uncontrollable thoughts...but everyone have their vices...but meditation has helped me alot and focusing on something other than myself...I am currently seeing a therapist who hasn't ruled me with anything as of yet...but the feelings are so strong that i develped aniexty...so you are not a lone and you are not crazy...but I would seek professional help to get talk to someone about you thoughts...
