I was wondering if anyone else had an obsession with bugs? I'm normally okay during the day when the sun is out and there is light. I can handle bugs for the most part. I can see them and avoid them. I have even picked up a caterpillar or two before. But, when the sun goes down and the lights are out, it's a whole different story. Part of my nightly ritual, along with checking all the doors and windows in the house to make sure they are locked multiple times a night, I also have to check behind the shower curtain multiple times a night to make sure no bugs are hiding in the tub. Also, I keep a drink at the bedside when I am sleeping in case I get thirsty in the night. I have to have a cover over it to keep bugs out. When I take my shoes off at night, I place them on a chair or table to keep any bugs from crawling into them and in the morning before I put them on, I check the insides to make sure no bugs have snuck in. I also sleep with the covers tucked under me rather than hanging down to prevent anything from crawling into bed with me. I have done these things for years now. I guess I first started this bug obsession as a senior in high school. I have no idea why. I wasn't bitten by a bug, didn't see a creepy bug movie or anything. I just got obsessed with bugs. And, I can't seem to figure out how to stop the madness. Any ideas???

Are you sure something didn't happen when you were younger? Maybe nothing that stands out, but you know like mosquitos or moths or something. I live in Louisiana and nighttime certainly brings out some extra bugs. I am like you and double check every thing and keep my nighttime water covered and I turn the light at night to use the bathroom which is next to my bedroom just in case.

I'm not sure. I know that I am allergic to stinging insects. I found out when I was five and was stung by a bumble bee and stopped breathing and had to have CPR from the rescue squad. Now, I carry an Epi-pen in case I get stung by anything. But, I'm not really afraid of bees or wasps during the day. I just freak out at night. So, I don't really know. It sounds like we are somewhat alike in our nighttime patterns. Luckily, I don't live in Louisiana though if there are more bugs at night there. ewwwwww
