Tonight I can't stop the intrusive thoughts to hurt my dog. They feel so bad. I just keep having images of me beating her. Of hurting her in unthinkable ways. Of pulling her across the carpet by her ears.

Perhaps you should go for a long run. Clear your head some. Give your dog to someone who could care for it. seems like you have too much time on your hands. since I prefer animals over most people, I haven't ever had your thoughts. But I am sure someone on here can perahps give you better info.

(((LydiaB))) The fact that the thoughts upset you tells me how much you love your dog. I had Postpartum OCD and had the types of intrusive thoughts that you do, only they were directed toward my baby.
![]() I used to try to let the thoughts float through my mind, or sometimes tried to step back from them a bit and sort of think "oh, well that was different..." . But then there were days that I thought I had to be an absolute monster. You do love your dog. Hang on to that and know that the thoughts are not you. ![]()

Remember, thinking bad thoughts isn't the same as having the URGE to do them. I used to have similar thoughts, but I realized I could never harm my pets, so I stopped worrying about it, and those kinds of thoughts rarely happen anymore.

I understand how you feel. I have experienced similar thoughts to you, and it's crazy because they are aimed at those who you love with your whole heart and who you would NEVER want to harm. I completely understand your anxiety, but I can tell that you adore your dog and will never hurt her, ever.
