I’m a young man of twenty year’s old, living outside of the united states, I found out this page on line as I was seeking for help and support; I have been struggling with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), I think caused by long periods of anxiety and depression in my life, I have never been the cheerful guy who makes everybody laugh, but I used to be the guy whom my friends ask for advice and run for shelter, they saw me as a strong person, trustworthy and brave; I am no longer that person, and the OCD has taken over me, I do things repeatedly, I am always concerned about germs and virus, I wash my hands all the time, I can’t help think bad things or sad things when I have no reason to be doing that, I plan things and expect them to be exactly as I planned, I check doors and locks over and over, I eat whenever my mood changes, and I have not been able to sleep well throughout this year; I want to that sweet, warn and loving person I used to be, I want to help others with the struggle too, I find talking, “chatting” very helpful as a therapy, I do like to listen to people and help, that’s makes me feel valuable and caring, if any of you need to be listened, you have me here, willing to listen, feel free to send me a private message, I would love to hear advices from you, and I wish the best for everyone here.

Young Man 20.

Welcome to PC Young Man 20 - its very nice of you to want to help others here. Are you getting medical help for the OCD? Its not something you can deal with on your own and its not a question of lack of willpower. Often medication and CBT is the most helpful. Don't worry about feeling embarrassed because you have classic symptoms of OCD. I hope you get the right help so you can go back to being a healthier you.

Hi young man 20, welcome to PyschCentral.

Im sorry your suffering with OCD, our symptoms are very similar - i too experience fear of contamination etc, it even got to the point where i would have to eat a certain way as i was convinced i was going to become ill and die (this stemmed from loosing two close family members in quick succession to hospital neglect). Im glad you find talking helpful though - ur right, it can be a great way of discovering answers to some of your own problems - not to mention it can feel good knowing you've been of some support to someone in need. I too am here to chat whenever you want - pm me anytime and ill try and get back to you asap

Young man 30, these sounds very similar to my symptoms. I am in constant fee of something wrong happening or that I'm doing something wrong. And the planning things same symptoms. I do not have such a constant fear of germs but I have a few spurts a day of hand cleansing and overall cleanliness.

I hope that you find some support and that you make some new friends here.
