Who's got it that bad?? Mine is a constant tormentor. On meds right now, no therapy. Had therapy in the past, didn't help as much as meds. That makes me feel hopeless. My brain must be all screwed up then. Its terrible in the grocery store for some reason.. but thats just the least of it. Its a real monster.

I've been in that dark place. I was taken by OCD all day, so much that I quit school, for majorly depressed, was almost non living aside from the OCD.

What meds are u on? What kind of therapy did u do? Behavior therapy is amazingly helpful. I suggest buying the book "talking back to OCD". It is aimed for a younger person, but the ideas are the same. You can work through it without a t, but I suggest u work with one. I would talk to your doc about changing meds, as it seems like the one you are taking isn't helping enough. Also, I think that you should give therapy another try.

I'm on a med for it, but I'm in therapy too. It's been reiterated over and over to me that the thoughts/impulses (that's what my OCD predominantly is) are just that, and to try to let them go on by, or laugh at them, or say stop. I have to do all of this. Moreso lately, as my sleep has finally become more productive, overall anxiety better, etc, I don't experience it as much. But when I do, it's very bothersome and it simply disturbs me. I hate it. I have to do so much ****ing "self-talk". It gets old. I'm probably wrong in saying this, but I almost wish I had behaviors moreso than thoughts (I do have minor OCD behaviors, but they're not nearly as irritating as the thoughts).

Hi Misswimmy,

I have been having Behaviour therapy, but find it so hard to do. And I have had other stuff, to deal with in therapy, (which I really didn't need!) So not sure about therapy at the moment.

But hey if may be very good for some people.
Thanks for this!

Depression and OCD/anxiety almost always go together...

It takes time. But it really is the only way to get ahold of OCD. You can do a lot things to lessen the anxiety temporarily, but it will only come back stronger unless you do the nitty gritty work of exposure therapy.

It's nothing u did. It's hereditary. And it's a chemical imbalance in the brain. It has nothing to do with u
