Chewing/picking the skin around my fingers or the inside of my cheeks. Or any other chance I get on the rest of my body. I do it til it bleeds. How can I stop?

I do the same with my cheeks and my lips sometimes...I'm not sure if it's related to OCD or not. Do you think that it is? And I did the same with my fingers to till some years ago, now I stopped but I don't know why...
Maybe try with chewing gums...it seems simplistic, but maybe it can at least improve the situation

Hi, Prozac has helped me greatly with my compulsions and my OCD in general. If you're not into medications, I find that going for a walk sometimes helps me calm myself down when I get really bad compulsions and racing thoughts. Wishing you the best.

Hey! I do the same thing with my fingers but for me it seems to be worse at different times. Recently I didn't pick the skin around my nails for a like a month. I did notice I had traded in that tick for playing with my hair more or rubbing my arms. I just recently started picking the skin around my nails again but its not as bad as it once was. A friend has told me chewing gum might help...I haven't tried it but am going to! Hope you can find a way that helps you!

I pick too. Its really embarrassing for me so I wear clothes to try and cover as much of it as I can...but, my hands and face I can't cover...sometimes, I wonder what people think about it. I'm on antipsychotics and mood stabilizers. They help some. But, its hard to control this type of behavior...sometimes, it helps me to sit and just write out my thoughts as they pop into my head. I can get focused on it and it takes my attention away from the picking.

I do it with my lips, and the best thing for me is to suck an ice cube, it sounds silly but i would recommend it, really calms you and seems to keep it under control.

I do this too, mainly biting the skin on my fingers, my lips or scratching/picking at the skin on my face. I constantly see marks that other people say are non-existent and I have scarring from it now. I also feel an urge or itch to do it, I try and do basic things like occupy my mind when I feel it starting. I also cover mirrors sometimes as that seems to calm me.
