I'm bipolar II. Horrible obsessive thoughts, along with major depression. Are the ruminating thoughts making me me depressed? I take a Xanax and it helps a bit, but this is a temporary fix. Currently taking Wellbutrin, and Lamictal. I've heard that Abilify can help?

Suggestions?

Yes, constant rumination causes me to feel extremely depressed, and anxious. Abilify did not help me, but it does help many people.

Constant obsessive thoughts make me very irritable and agitated, which leads to depression. I am starting to feel obsessive since lowering my risperidone, but it isn't as bad prior to it. Risperidone works for obsessive thoughts but the minimum effective dose for me is 1 mg.

OCD in general can have depression as a symptom. I take Abilify and it took my anxiety from really high to mild/moderate. It didn't fix everything, though. I just got put on Lexapro less than a month ago and I'm hopeful that it will help my anxiety and obsession.

From what I understand, Wellbutrin is not an SSRI drug. SSRI's are usually prescribed specifically for OCD. Has your doctor tried you on an SSRI like Lexapro, Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, or the like? I would request that if you feel the Wellbutrin is not working for you. Best wishes!
