Keep having new obsessions or dislikes. New one I overt thought about cotton and couldn't touch a towel. Because after washing my hands I felt icky rubbing them on the towel and obsessed about that and had a hard time touching towels for a day or two. I was tired like normal and then starting cleaning found my self scrubbing viguriously on the floor. I had sweat dripping down from my head, my hair was soaked. Payed down realized all the things I've been doing in my life and almost had a complete anxiety attack from learning about OCD. I'm scared now and obsessed over that. Here I am in my room next to me is a bottle of Ativan to calm me down but my head is somewhere else totally obsessing on something I can't get up. SCARED SCARED.!!my mind is somewhere else but my body is here. Help??!!!!

Even when I'm going through periods of complete depression I still have routines of some sort. Even if I'm not focused on doing something repeatedly. Again I'm scared.

Welcome to Psych Central (PC) snowflakeivy. I am so sorry you are suffering from depression and OCD. I am glad you are sticking to your routines. They help me get through the day even when things are not going well.

People here at PC may also have a therapist to talk things out and a psychiatrist or psych doc to diagnose and prescribe meds to help balance things out.

For anxiety, I silently count my breaths. One on the inhale breathing naturally and two on the exhale continuing up to 10 then starting at 1 again. It helps me focus on counting and breathing instead of thoughts running through my awareness.

Besides being an active participant in helping oneself at Psych Cental, many people also help support each other by replying to other people's posts. Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems are more manageable the more they help others.

Glad you are joining us here. Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Hi and welcome. I'm sorry that this is causing you so much anxiety. Have you considered seeing a therapist? I don't that it's hard to accept, but it's worth trying it.
You aren't alone We understand and care about you.
