My intrusive thoughts are different from others. Mine started when I deliberately thought of stabbing somebody, without the intention to do it. But this seems to have triggered an urge to do it. Would this still count as an intrusive thought?

I think it would still be considered an intrusive thought.

Hello Shih tzu lover: Yes, I believe this would certainly count as an intrusive thought. I have struggled with these sorts of thoughts as well. I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. There are many knowledgeable & caring members here. I can really recognize your thoughts, I have them and sometimes had them before, though it's hard to remember when..

Hello. That would be an intrusive thought in my books. I don't think I've personally experienced that thought, but I have stuff very similar to it (I have harm obsessions). For me, I just get scared when these thoughts come up because I don't want to do it, but my mind is acting out me doing it.

Yes this would definitely count as a intrusive thought . I tend to have these from time to time but usually can bring myself down from them ... Just because we're capable doesn't mean we will . We do have this great thing in us called self control and it's just scary because we believe no normal person would ever think this way but from talking to my therapist she informed me everyone has these thoughts they're just able to let them go unlike us who tend to harbor them and give them way to much attention . I wish I could be more help to you but like I said I deal with them too so hopefully down the line we're able to cope better . Good Luck to you hopefully it's a thought that has passed
