Does anyone else feel like checking Facebook or other forms of social media have become a compulsion? I feel like I obsess about checking to see if certain people "like" things or reply about things. I'm so sick of the cycle. I'm thinking about getting off Facebook entirely.

What's your opinion? Is Facebook a problem for you?

I believe that if it is eliciting such a negative response from you, it may be time to step away from Facebook. I've heard this sort of obsession is quite common and would love to know the reason. It is human nature to want to "fit in", or so I'm told, so perhaps that has something to so with it. I've actually cut out social media because I thought I was on there too much. Psych central is the only type of online communication I use.

Definitely got off of Facebook. I had the same problem. I really don't see the point in it anymore. I still have my account but that's just so I can talk to my brother and my friend. Just as another means of communication.

Other than that the only other ones I use are YouTube (which doesn't really count in my opinion) and here of course.

Yeah I'd rather talk to people face to face in real life though. I think social media can take away from that.

Although with that being said just because you use social media doesn't mean that you don't know how to talk to people.

I find Fb helpful for my anxiety, because I feel connected to other people rather than stuck in isolation.
