I've been battling OCD since I was a small child. My obsessions manifest differently depending on what stage of life I'm in. Right now I'm 24 and getting ready to buy my first house with my boyfriend. The problem is: I am SO CONVINCED he is going to snap and hate me. I constantly check my phone for text messages. If there's none, I think he's angry. If there ARE texts from him, I interpret them as attacking or frustrated. When he comes home I dote over him and offer to make him food, get him drinks, start up his video games and ask how he's feeling multiple times. This kind of freaks him out as he hates being doted over.

He's not abusive and far from an angry person. He's been a bit more miserable as he suffers from depression, but I immediately think it's because of me, or something I did, or he hates me.

Does anyone else get obsessive over loved ones? I know it's common to worry about a person dying, which I've gone through as well, but this seems very emotionally charged, mixed with OCD. Or is it a personality thing?

Your getting ready to buy a home together, so it sounds like your relationship with him is solid. He wouldn't be doing that if he didn't feel secure with you. This should help you be more secure with him. You stated he is not abusive or angry, but does have depression. If he doesn't like being doted over, than i would respect that, and do it in a more natural manner by not going out of your way to attend to him. If you love him and want the relationship to survive, than i would suggest more communication with him about the things that bother you or him. It should help with your insecurity or OCD. Remember to never ignore your needs, and take care of yourself, for that allows you to be a better mate.

Good luck
