So I have ocd. I'll take a long time in the shower and some other things I don't want to talk about. I don't like talking about it and I don't want to say how long my showers can be. I just don't like telling people about it. Some people will tease me about how long I take in the shower and they don't mean any harm but I don't like it especially when other people are around cause I don't really want people to know. But there's some people who will talk down to me about it. They'll make a comment about how long I take that sounds kinda mean. I don't know how else to explain it but it makes me really mad.

I hear you. Something I find I have to do is pace back in forth while I settle my thoughts before I can leave the house. Even people who know my condition and are sympathetic can still make hurtful comments about it. Even when they ultimately mean no harm, you sometimes can hear the slight scorn in their voice. It feels like they're secretly saying, "I wish you would stop being stupid. You're wasting our time." It hurts, and I hate it.

I understand. People try to make fun of others for doing compulsions, but it's not even a humorous matter. It can be extremely stressful. I sometimes wonder why, when people notice that someone has these compulsions, they don't show any kind of genuine concern. Instead, they laugh.

I just saw a "gag gift" on Amazon, for friends (if you'd call them that) to give to other friends who have OCD. It's a white t-shirt that simply says, "OCD" on it. What bothers me is, as I said, it's a gag gift.
