Hi I am new here. I have OCD which makes me worry about my family members’ safety, specifically that of my sister. My sister is going to Brazil soon for six months and I am getting really stressed; I am afraid I will have some kind of breakdown. I have been on 40mg of Prozac for about a year and a half and it has helped, but I fear that it won’t be enough while my sister is away. Does 60mg make a difference or is it not worth it to increase my dosage? Any other recommendations? Thanks.

It's entirely dependent on your response. Absolutely no way to tell without trying. Genesight genetic profile testing or something can be used to help predict medicine responses, but again, those predictions are just guesses and advice based on your body (so how you truly respond is entirely unique to you and you alone). Side effect rates tend to go up with higher doses and down with lower, but this doesn't hold true for everyone either. It's just a general rule I've "heard."

It doesn't seem you have anything to lose to try it. If it doesn't help it's easy enough to go back to 40. It's really up to you and the doc.
