Well I noticed a whole lot of people on here with icons of birds, butterflys, fairies, angels, etc. Its funny how we all want wings. What do they symbolize to you?

Wings signify a "lightness" to me. Grace, strength, and lightness of spirit. However, I hate buggies too LMo. ;o)

Wings...A symbol of freedom. To move about freely with out confinement. To escape when you feel threatened. To soar high above life and close your eyes and feel the ultimate serenity and peacfulness.

Seeing as I'm an angel I have wings on my back. If I'm a naughty angel, I might lose them or my halo but only temporarily.

For me, wings represent more than freedom. The butterfly is a sacred symbol of the soul to me. I also consider it a reminder to myself to connect all parts. When I started therapy, I drew a picture that was half a butterfly wing and half a bat wiing (with no body of to hold them together) that represent my perception of myself. Since then, I have drawn many pictures of myself with butterfly wings, and different wings symbolize different aspects of myself that are currently very compartmentalized / dissociated. I draw symbols on the wings that are personally meaningful for me and represent aspects of my Self. The butterfly's body connects all the wings together and makes them a whole and beautiful being. For me, this is a great symbol.
![]() Plus, I like Angel wings since my name is Angela, which means Angel. And my T's name is Angel, too, so I like Angels even more! lol! ![]() Angela

Pretty much the same things people have already said -- freedom, lightness of spirit, grace. Higher consciousness.
Also soaring above the earth, meaning rising above my earthly concerns -- which are so rooted in my anxiety and fears and depression.
