I sometimes have dreams that I think are real. I'm not talking crazy things that dreams are typically made up of... I'm talking about normal daily things that I wake up and think are real. I think they are real sometimes just for a few seconds or minutes but sometimes it is days later that I realize that something I thought was real was really something from my dreams. For example, a few weeks ago I went on a weekend trip with my parents to visit my sister. The next day I decided to wear my leather jacket instead of my usual canvas because the cat had slept on it and there was cat hair all over it. Three days later, my mom called to say that she was bringing me my jacket because I had left it in her car when we got back from the trip. For three days I thought that my favorite jacket had cat hair on it but in reality the jacket wasn't even in my house.

I don't know why this is happening to me. I've always had a problem with dreams. Mostly it was nightmares that I understood were just nightmares. In the past few months I've been dreaming more about daily things. I still wake up in a panic at least nine or ten times a week.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

It's funny you should bring this up. I used to have that problem but thankfully it has gone away on it's own. It got so bad, I didn't know what was reality and what was dreams, that's how real they were. I once dreamed I had a major fight with my sister on the phone and hung up on her. I avoided her for a whole week. I was convinced it was real, it felt so real. It wasn't, it was a dream. In the same week, I dreamed that I relayed a msg from one person to another. Never really happened, again a dream. I thought I was losing my mind. Not sure where to post this. Those are just a couple of examples. It happened many times. It was very scary for me not knowing the difference between reality and my dreams. My dreams would be so real that I would actually argue with people that the events in my dreams actually took place, when in fact, none of them did, or so I was told. It was very disconcerning not knowing what was reality and what wasn't. Thankfully, this didn't last a very long time. I'm glad it's over. I hope you don't go through it for too long. I know how horrible it is to think your dreams are reality. Wishing you some good nights of sleep. Not sure where to post this.

About the only time that I "get lost" is when I have nightmares about my past. I usually wake up in a panic, only it's like I didn't wake up. I'm still in the dream only I'm awake. It's kinda hard to jerk myself back into reality.

I've had dreams that I thought were real, too. It's weird trying to figure out what I really did and what I only dreamed about.

I was once woken hearing the fire alarm in my house, but when I awoke, the alarm wasn't going off and everything was ok. I asked my dad if he had heard the alarm in the night but he hadn't. So the noise was just in my dream. Dreams can be strange things.
