i'm posing a question? if you could play any instrument, in anyone's band, dead or alive, who would it be???

Dylan's too picky. he'd kick me out the first week...

I would play mandolin with The Nashville Bluegrass Band...

(they wear sandals and khaki shorts and rayon shorts...fashion had something to do with my choice listening to music and thinking too much, so.....)

My crush on Neil Diamond has long been over, but I've always envied his piano player. DAMN! Wish I could play like him!!

I used to play piano and sometimes still go nuts when I hear about pianos being on sale. Only I know I wouldn't touch it now... 'sides, I have carpal tunnel. listening to music and thinking too much, so..... SIGH!

Either the drums...because I'm a background kind of woman. Or piano/keyboard...because it's something to sit or stand behind.

I'd like to play in a band with Brian Eno or Daniel Lanois. Maybe Dave Evans of U2 or... David Gilmour, or... get drunk and jam with Joe Walsh. Eh, I'd probably need to get intoxicated to play with any of them, but anyways. Jeff Beck. Roger Waters. Beck. Neil Finn.

(I don't have the hots for any of these guys, by the way)

Oh, Jimi Hendrix, of course. Janis Joplin. Duane Allman.

The bands I wouldn't like to play in:

BON Jovi
REO Speedwagon
Bananarama
The Bangles
Van Hagar ( I mean van Halen, after they kicked out David Lee Roth)

Okay, I could go on, but I'm getting way off topic.

Any musician who's not an overly aggressive #$%#^ who's only in it for the cash and narcotics.

dang it!! Daniel Lanois! i clearly forgot him.....boy when he produced that album for Willie..Teatro...that blew my blouse off! i've never heard anything so wonderful come out of Willie since his first few albums..when he was hungry....that album is fabulous....

Greg Allman is singing "Will the Circle be Unbroken" on my 'puter right now. i downloaded it and yes, you can visit me in jail....

this is a jammin music thread...it would be hard to get off topic here....

for the artist among us, Guy Clark wrote a song called "Picasso's Mandolin" that is so good...it's worth trying to find it to hear his magic....

and i forgot Everclear? or Everlast? "Put your lights on"....i would really like to play with them....and that band called Morphine... know them, anyone?
you know what? this is our cyber livingroom and we're all gathered round talking about music.....i see it that way.....xoxoxo pat

since i know that most of you have never even "heard" of Guy Clark, much less "heard" him..here is Picasso's Mandolin.....

Picasso said in 1910
I'm gonna paint me a mandolin
Could be cubes it could be curves
I like to mix the paint with nerve
I'm gonna load my brush and fire away
Paint me a hole in the light of day

Chorus

You can play it straight or play it from left field
You got to play it just the way you feel
Come on boys and play it again
Play it on Picasso's mandolin

Well it's colorin' books and drinkin' wine
It’s hard to stay between the lines
Ain’t no rule if you don't break it
Ain’t no chance if you don't take it
He said the damndest thing he ever heard
Was tryin' to learn to sing from a mockingbird

Chorus

Picasso said before he died
There’s one more paintin' I'd like to try
The doctor held his breath and then
Picasso nailed a mandolin
He’s born in Spain and died in France
He was not scared of baggy pants

Chorus

Album Lyrics: Boats to Build [1992]
