Sometimes I wake up with scratches on my arms or face where I have scratched myself in my sleep. Sometimes it brings blood sometimes it's just a red place. I don't know what causes it and I don't know how to stop it. I did sleep in gloves for a while but I would pull them off in my sleep so it didn't really help much. I was just wondering if anyone could offer any help.
Thanks in advance.

I sware I already replied to this so I am not sure where my post went. Anyway.....
In the winter your skin tends to get very, very dry. I can scratch my legs raw from dry skin. Could this be what the problem is? What has helped me is Hemp oil lotion. i bought it from a specialty store. It's a little pricy but has help so much with my dry skin. I apply it after my bath and it has worked wonders. Maybe give it a try. Also, I didnt know if this is some type of compulsion or something along those lines. Where you are really having a hard time not scratching. Please clarify or feel free to PM me if needed. Take care. Much Luv!! |

I have very dry skin and occasional dry skin.
Yes, moisturizers help. Sometimes I get an allergy to soap and or laundry soap. It can be a product I've been using for a while -- maybe the manufacturers change the formulas, don't know. If it's laundry soap, you're literally rolling in the aggravant in sleep. Once my underarms were so itchy I couldn't hardly stand it. I had to change a deodorant I've been using for decades. Keep us posted on whether you find a remedy. I'm always interested in itching problems.

It's not a dry skin problem or like I'm itching... it's more like I'm clawing or holding to one spot all night really tight. I dig into my palms mostly but I have a 3/4 inch scar on my hand where I dug into myself a little over a month ago. I have another place on my arm and one on my neck that is more recent.

If sounds like it's more of a compulsion then, like picking your skin, only more like scratching. I forget what it's called, and I don't know anything about it.
Can you wear long sleeves and long pants or something? Keep your nails VERY short? <3 <3 <3 Sorry, luv.

i so understand! i just journaled about this in fact. i used to do this more than i do now. wake myself up clawing my face. the pain actually wakes me up. it's very disconcerting. the only thing that i've been able to put together about this is it happens when my PTSD/stress levels are extreme, so i'm wondering if i'm having flashback type nightmares. i never remember nightmares, only the sense that i'd had one. i just did this again last week, at the same time old PTSD habits creep up again. i'm going to ask t about this tomorrow and see what he says. it's awful to wake up in pain with your own hands clawing at your face. ![]() ![]() i can see where you would take of gloves in sleep. when i act out like this, i take rings off and can't find them, sleepwalk sometimes and do silly things. i just don't know the solution but to try to keep triggers and stress down ![]() gl! kd

Maybe you can talk to your T about this coco. I think that would probably be the best avenue to take. Good luck with this and keep us posted. Thanks!!

Thanks guys. It probably is stress levels and nightmares (lord knows I have more than my share of them). Most of my dreams are things that I haven't experienced with people I don't know, sometimes it's just daily things like washing the dishes.. but when they are bad, they are really bad. I am going to talk to my T about this next week when I go.
