Just found out today that I was denied (yet again) for health insurance due to my "pre-existing condition"... apparently they are only willing to help you out if you have a medical problem, not a mental one. go figure.

I live in Ohio. I'm not sure if I'd qualify for any government assistence, but I live in a small city where governement help is almost worthless anyway... any suggestions on what to do? I need to go see a doctor, pay for my meds, and get a therapist, plus... if I have any sort of accident or anything that puts me in the hospital I'll have to pay for it all... I need something, fast!!!

do you have any citizens advice bureaus?
somwhere you can ring for info? - local charities may have info on where you can get help? or if you are religioous - then a pastor - priest? rabbi? whatever it is for your religion may be able to help you find someone

i hope you manage to get some help fast

good luck

There was a Mental Health Parity Act signed into law in October of 2008 which provided coverage requirements for policies going into effect after October 9, 2009. The details on the requirements of large group policies can be found here:

http://www.cms.hhs.gov/healthinsrefo...hparityact.asp

This will apply to policies whose plan years begin after October 9, 2009 (next week).

Maybe this will help you a little. I'm not sure what they expect you to do in the meantime.
