I am feeling very low right now.. it's been this way for weeks. i don't even know if anyone or anything can help with this..

I want to go to the doctor and get help, before it's too late. but my whole family doesn't see me as a "sad person" because I always hide everything from them. I don't need more people in my business. If you can help me in any way.. please contact me somehow..

Hello - I am glad you found this place. Here you do not have to wear that mask that People (that don't understand nor care to) want us to have - FOR THEM!

Here you are welcome, open, share, ask, respond. We all need help here, we all TRY to help as best we can.

I do hope you are on medication. With depression it is the chemical in your brain that is not responding correctly. This is not saying it will take it away, but it will help ease it.

Do please contact a doctor and tell the seriousness.... Starlite
Thanks for this!

Hi,

I suffered from depression from the ages of 14 right up until i was around 21. If you feel the same way that i did during that time, then i don't think anything anyone says will really make you feel better. Depression is like a huge cloud that sits over you and bears down on you day and night. And all i can say is that i hope you have people around you that are there for you.

I just woke up one day and the cloud was gone. Honestly. If you really feel like you can't cope with it, then you should take medication or something because there really is hope for you. I didn't get any help or any medication for mine, and i got over it. I have never felt like i did back then and i just hope that you can see yourself through it somehow too.

Maybe even writing down your thoughts would at least keep your mind occupied because i know it can seem like your mind is going like ten to the dozen all of the time. It can be cathartic in a way, even if it upsets you even more, i think that if it makes you feel more then that's a good thing; because as soon as you stop feeling anything then you're in trouble.

I hope my rambling helps you a tiny tiny bit.

Much hugs xxxxx

Hello pleasehelpmenow and welcome to PC

It doesnt matter if others dont see the real you - you know that you are in trouble and need help and that is a huge step - well done

Seeing a Dr is a good idea - as starlite says Depression needs to be taken seriously - there could be a medical reason - and the Dr can check for that - if not then anti depressants can help if there is a chemical imbalance form long term sadness - agitation - or fear -

a referral to a therapist can also help - now i know that can sound scary - and you may not want to do that - i know i didnt - but i will tell for me that was the best thing i could have done - i was in a really bad palce and my therapist (psycholigist ) really helped me get further along the healing road.

Please take care and let us know how you are going ok

Hello pleasehelpmenow,

I do remember the first time I had depression, real depression, not just feeling "blue"

It was terrible and it is hard for other people to understand how different it is from just feeling sad or low

Please do get to the doctor like the others suggested, it can make all the difference

You will be surprised after you start feeling better, you probably won't realize just how much it affected you

Please do this for yourself and then let us know how you are. We care very much about you!

hey there, I'm not sure how old you are. Normally I wouldn't ask on an online forum but it would be good to know if you're living with your family *guessing you are* or not.
Is there any way you can get to a doctor without them knowing? Maybe you can go to your general doctor and talk to him/her and see if they have anything to say about it?

You could also approach your family about it. If this is depression talking, it's no YOU who is a "sad person", it's just that you have a medical condition that's MAKING you sad. It's important to remember this.

I understand your reluctance to tell anyone about this. I was the same way. But it's VERY important to get help when you need it - I've learned this the hard way.

Keep posting, here or in the depression section, best of luck

I understand wearing the mask. I wear it all the time. My advice to you is to go ahead and get help if you feel you need it. It doesn't matter if others see you as sad because like you said you wear a mask. So they may not see the sadness because of the mask. Go ahead and get help. Do it for you and no one else.

Read about depression under Conditions and Disorders on the very top bar of this page. Then you will know whether you have clinical depression and if so what to say to the doctor you are going to. Tell your parents you have to see a doctor, if you are still under their care. Reading about the disorder will also help you talk to them. There is a difference between being sad and being depressed. Meantime, there are some very wise people here [I'm not one of them], and we will help as much as we can! ~ billieJ

((((((((((( pleasehelpmenow ))))))))))))) First of all welcome to psych central. I agree with what others have said, getting help is really important in the meantime though you may want to try posting more in the depression forum http://forums.psychcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6
