I am.

I have been on Effexor for a few months, only to have gotten a job in that time which means that I can't see the psychiatrist anymore and therefore I have to get off the Effexor now.

I was never on enough Effexor to make a meaningful change in my mood so the last few months was such a waste of time!

And to think my psychologist was so glad that I got to see this particular psychiatrist because she thought so highly of him. Well it all came to nothing again.

So who else is frustrated?

Does your job have benefits? Do you have health insurance? Can you get another psychologist? Effexor comes in a generic, it seems that there should be a way that you could work it out.

I am so sorry it looks bleak right now, Biscuit Tin. But, something will work out. Effexor is a good medicine and there also is the second generation of it called Pristiq. Pristiq is actually more desireable as it has not as many side effects.

Just because you are working now shouldn't mean you don't have as many options. Hang in there.

Yes!
I certainly am frustrated by lack of progress.
However, I'm not employed, at this time, (without influential restrictions of that sort), have never been diagnosed with any disorders, (as to date), therefore never on any medications....Yet, I am STILL with little to no progressions.
So, I have to question, what IS my reason for no progression?
Hell yes, I'm frustrated.

BT~ I'm so sorry you're experiencing frustrations, as well. Vickie has some good points. You DO have options.

I have also been down this road. Try to see if you have a community clinic where you can get pay based or maybe even free. If all else fails you can go to a regular MD. they can write a script.

I know what you mean. It's really frustrating to not be going anywhere.

A couple weeks ago I was put on Zyprexa and that lifted me out of a deep depression, then after I got off of it my mood started slowly going right back down. After feeling great for a week and normal for another week, I just don't know what to do with myself sometimes.

Hang in there, I'm sure it will work out. Talk to your Phycologist and see if they can recommend someone else that falls better into your price range or where your insureance will cover it.

biscuit tin, it may be that the effexor helped you to have the energy or focus to get a job so it may not all be a loss. having said that i have just come off effexor xr after having been on it for 7 years. it's been hell getting off this drug and just when i thought i was mostly over the withdrawal effects i am not. if you have to go off it then please do it carefully as you can get quite sick from it. personally, i don't think docs should be prescribing this drug for this reason. if you can get on an anti-depessant that doesn't have such severe withdrawal effects then i'd definitely change.

congrats on getting a job! hope it's something you enjoy.

p.s. i have a long thread in the drug forum chronicling my effexor withdrawal journey.
