There must be rules about posting obscentities. It personally doesn't offend me because I know we all get frustrated and angry (not to mention I can clear a bar of sailors with my mouth at times), but I am very sympathetic to those it does offend. I think it is most inappropriate in the subject line and perhaps if we must vent, we keep it in the body were everyone reviewing all of the forum threads won't have to be subjected to it.

Just a suggestion and my 2c.

Now I am even more confused that before. Apparently "god" is allowed in a subject line but "God" is not. Or perhaps "God" is not allowed in a subject line if I use it.

"F-cked" is allowed in a subject line but "prick" is not. Or is it that "f-cked is allowed in a subject line if it is used by someone other than myself . . .

i didn't mean to say it personally to you, it was a quick reply so it shows it as a reply to the last post F-cked OK in subject line

and what i meant, for everyone, that i do understand that these kinds of things are confusing/ annoying/ upsetting or whatever.. but can't we just let it go? Before this becomes another fight, then this thread would have to be locked, that someone would make another thread about locking this thread and so on and so on.... F-cked OK in subject line

I think the fighting is much more upsetting to everyone, than a few G or F words, or the confusing rules of the use of them. The mods are just people, too.

At least the fighting makes me nervous and because arguments seem to catch fire so easily here these days, i've found it more and more uncomfortable coming here at all F-cked OK in subject line

Neri, this is why it's NOT APPROPRIATE:

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
Inappropriate Content

This is, first and foremost, a self-help support community. That means if your message (post or PM) isn't about offering support to another person or asking for it, it's potentially not appropriate for our community. Specifically prohibited from our community:

* Advertisements of any sort
* Announcements of one's own Web site, new resource, or book
* Announcements for research projects
* Soliciting others to join another online community
* Flames or messages meant to intimidate or harass others
* Threatening or profane messages
* Messages discussing a private message (PM) from others, including all administrative issues
* Messages containing suicidal threats or suicidal actions
* Messages containing or condoning illegal acts
* Limit your direct discussion of politics and religion, as people usually hold pretty strong opinions about these topics
* Triggering material without the use of the Trigger Icon
* Anything that violates the Terms of Use for this site

When in doubt about appropriate content, contact any moderator before posting questionable material.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

* Threatening or profane messages- the word some of us find offensive is profane and against the guidelines.

It's totally unnecessary to use that kind of language, IMO, when you have a good mastery of the English language. We all seem to have that here on this board. We can all express ourselves without offending others.

After reading the guidelines, I don't see how we can expect "a fight."

Wants2, I find the loose usage of the name "God" offensive, too, whether it's capitalized or not.

Ok... I guess I just started a fight. So be it.

I know what the rules are, and it was not ME who made the post. Nor was it me who started this thread. I'm just pointing out, that maybe we should let it go.

i'm sorry that expressing my confusion publicly is construed as picking a fight. it is not my intention to do so. and please i ask for no replies to this as i don't want this thread to become an argument.

AGREED! Please take dicussions of Admin policies and decisions to the land of PMs. That is the policy at PsychCentral. It was just getting friendly again here.

Thank you!

I'm sorry I said I was confused....didn't mean to start anything. oksoimaybe....you just said "me too" to me being confused. We just didn't know why God wasn't allowed in the subject line...at least that's why I was confused. I just didn't know God wasn't allowed.

Just to clarify, since there appears (again!) to be some confusion....

Profanity is banned by the guidelines (go look at them if you didn't know). We don't police every single occurrence, since the moderation team doesn't necessarily read every single message every single day, so there are bound to be some occurrences we miss. We're human. I'm sorry we're not perfect enough for some people.

Discussion of god is not specifically prohibited, and it's certainly allowed in a subject line. What we say is:

* Limit your direct discussion of politics and religion, as people usually hold pretty strong opinions about these topics

If your post is specifically and completely about religion or god, yes, it goes against the guidelines. Sorry. So sometimes your subject line may be inappropriate, and sometimes a post may be inappropriate due to religious content.

Folks, AGAIN, guidelines are not perfect and are administered by imperfect humans. Stop looking for perfection and perfect equality because you won't find it in life, and you won't find it here. We try our best. Sometimes everyone's happy, most times someone isn't. I'm sorry about that. If you can't accept that, I suggest you take a break from the forums for awhile...

Best,
DocJohn

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
